Chapter 1 He was lying in the bed asleep, just like that time so long ago. She hated him. She wanted him dead. She was shaking, scared out of her wits, trying hard not to faint. She began to defiantly yet slowly walk towards his sleeping figure as she fingered the object in her pocket. The alarm clock rang. Rang. RANG. Jessie woke up in a cold sweat, realizing in a moment that it had all been a dream. She looked over at her alarm clock. 6:00; time to get ready for work. She proceeded to get up, take a shower, and get dressed for work. Afterwards, she went into the kitchen, where Meowth was enjoying a plate of scrambled eggs ang toast and James was busy cooking breakfast. "Good morning Jess," he said, nearly singing her name. " What are you so happy about?" she mumbled as she yawned " Today is Payday!" He set a plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of her and at an empty spot at the table he intended to sit at and began to pour some coffee for himself and Jessie. " Are you sure?" " Yes. Friday the 25th!" " James, today's Thursday." " No it's not." " Ya it is Jimmy boy." Meowth piped in as he shoveled the rest of his food down his throat."Look at that calendar over there." James went to examine the calendar and then turned around, looking angrily at Meowth. " You little furball! Why didn't you say anything earlier?" "Because it's funner for me this way." Jessie smiled to herself. This always happened at least once a month. ************************************************** "Hurry up, James! We're going to lose them!" " Jessie, this net is heavy. Give me a break." Jessie walked back to where he was standng and started to help him with the net. She was suprised to find that it was extremely heavy. " Why is this so heavy?" " It's electric proof." James replied proudly. " Those elecrtic proof nets never work. You know that Jimmy. Those brats always find some way to short-circuit it." Meowth said, as he sat on the ground eating a snack. Jessie dropped the net without warning, unintentionally letting it fall on James' foot. " I don't here any other ideas coming out of that big Meowth of yours!" She said angrily, smacking him with her fan. She looked over at James who was hopping up and down on one foot as he held the other. " What's wrong with you?" she asked annoyed, her hands on her hips. " Jessie, you dropped that heavy thing on my foot!" Jessie looked at him apologetically. " Oh. Sorry James." She put her paper fan away and turned to Meowth. " Meowth, why don't you run ahead and see where the twerps are?" " Oh sure. Meowths got to do everyhting around here." he said, throwing up his paws and, slowly but surely, heading in the direction the twerps had gone earlier. " Come on James. Let's go get a regular net." " What am I supposed to do with this one?" " What can you do with it? It's to heavy to lift. We'll just leave it there. It's not like anyone's going to steal it." " I suppose not...Okay." ************************************************** Jessie and James bought another net and got back just in time to catch Meowth coming back. " They're in the middle of that forest there by Vermillion City." he chuckled. "They're lost again." "THAT forest?" Asked Jessiem taken aback. " That's what I said." Jessie thought for a moment. " How aboout we just go to Vermillion City and wait for them there. They'll probably make it there eventually." " We can't do that, Jessie! If the boss finds out, we won't get paid tomarro. Why not just trail them through the forest?" He turned to Meowth. " You know where they are, right?" "Of course." Said Meowth matter-of-factly. James and Meowth started towards the forest, but Jessie just stood there. " Come on Jessie!" " James, can't we just... think of something else?" said Jessie hopefully. " You're not costing Meowth HIS paycheck!" said Meowth, fury swiping her across the face. " You mangy little cat! I'll get you!" Jessie began chasing Meowth towards the forest. James sighed and followed. Before she knew it, Mewoth had led Jessie well into the forest. Meowth stopped. He never could outrun Jessie for long. She gave him a good whack with her paper fan and then looked around. " You did this on purpose you little scratch-cat!" " Hehehe... I may have a sore butt tomight, but I'll have a full tummy tomarro." He sat on the ground, pleased with himself. A moment later, James came running up, hauling the huge net. Completely out of breath, he collapsed. "It sure took ya long enough to get here," said Meowth. " Look, it's the twerps! Let's catch that Pikachu and get out of here!" Said Jessie happily, not the least bit out of breath. James stood up, more composed now. " Jessie, this net is big enough to hold them all. Why not just sneek up behind them and catch them all!" " Ooh, another sneek attack; I like it!" " Great! Let's do it." chimed in Meowth. The trecherous trio sneaked behind them and lunged toward them with the net. Unfortunately, the force of their attack sent them all rolling down a nearby hill. When they all arrived at the bottom, twerps and all, they were suprised to find everything dramatically different. The wind had picked up. It could be heard whistling through the dead, porous trees, which, just moments ago, had been full of life. The sky glowed a pale blue hue, like that just before sunrise; and a deep red moon shone over the place in the distance. The very mood of the place had changed. Wht was once a beautiful, carefree forest was now an eerie wastland, all around. Even the place the tumbled from. In the distance, there was clearly a town. Suddenly, Jessie became tense. She began looking around, as if struck by paranoia. She jumped to her feet and let the twerps out of the net. " Jessie!?" squeeled James as he looked at her, suprised. " Run!" She yelled at him and everyone else as she took off toward the town. At first they all just stood there, a little confused at what was happening, and a little jumpy. Suddenly, they heard something rustling through the dry leaves and they all took off running in the direction Jessie had gone. End of Chapter 1 I'll send in chapter two when I get the time.
