Father Cassius took off, fearing that a painful rather than freeing death would meet him. The Primaves followed after, knowing too well what they had done now, and that a swift yet slow and agonizing death awaited them. Only James stayed, walking slowly yet cautiously to the place where Jessie had been chained. He stood at her feet, looking up at her, her eyes filled with tears as she finally felt the pain of the dagger. She looked down at him, her face white, her own blood draining from her mouth.

"James..." she whispered.

James was crying himself now. He wasted no time in unhooking her shackles from the metal hook that held her suspended on the pole. He held her waist gently as she slid down so that she wouldn't come slamming into the ground. James then came around to the front of the pole, where Jessie sat, her wrists still shackled behind the pole though she was in a more comfortable position now. She bent over in pain, blood still coming from the wound in her stomache. Her eyes were focused on a round stained glass window at the top of the building that emitted a beautiful wheel of light a few feet from where she sat.

James pulled her face down a bit to meet his eye, a waterfalls of tears pouring from both of their eyes.

"Jessie!" James whispered loudly and emotionally as he threw his arms around her. She rested her head on his shoulder, and he leaned his head on hers. After a moment, they pulled apart. James cradled Jessie's face in his palms as he spoke to her, ever so gently, not being able to bring himself to look her in the eyes.

"What's happening, Jess?" He asked her, on the verge of a breakdown, his emotions not allowing him to look her in the face at all."I wish things were like they used to be, just, just..."he sighed."If only we were back yesterday. We could...we could stop all this..."

Jessie lifted a shackled wrist to bring his face even with hers. Suddenly, it was as if her were in a trance, unable to speak, unable to move. He looked into her sapphire eyes, her mirror-like sapphire eyes; And as he did so, he could see images of things past, memories, both pleasant and awful. It was like a dream at first, but as he gave in to the illusion of reality her enticing eyes gave, the dream turned into a reality, and he was engulfed by it.
