I was still licking my whip inflicted cuts when Chris whispered, {Rayne! It’s that scientist guy…} I looked up from my nursing. Standing in front of my cage door was Larson. I growled, and showed my teeth. He just laughed. "I came here to check on you. Apparently, some grunts came in and hassled you." Larson gestured to Chris. "I assume you’ve met your cellmate?" With an angry, "Charvee!", Chris leapt up. Larson walked to the seemingly harmless pokemon’s cage and got a surprise when Chris set his pants on fire with a small ember attack. He cried out, running through the door, lab coat flapping wildly, no doubt to jump in a water tank. Chris grinned at me. {How was that, Rayne?} My shocked face sent him giggling. I recovered. {You did well, my patowan learner.} He started laughing at this sudden quote from Star Wars. There are some benefits to being a pokemon. Chris cut the jokes when I resumed licking my cuts. {Rayne, why do you think we’re here?} I stopped licking to answer. {Larson told me we’re to help them in Team Rocket’s world takeover.} {What?! They expect two of us to do that?} {No, they’re kidnapping more kids as we speak. Pretty soon, this room will be filled with mutated and rare pokemon.} Chis crossed his arms (or, paws, if you wish). {Well, say pretty please and there’s a 0.000000001 chance of me helping. Of course, we’ll escape before then, right?} This last question was directed at me. {Maybe.} Chris raised his wings. {While I’m in here, I might as well try flying.} It looked like he was trying to figure out how to move the things. First, his only success was a few twitches. He seemed frustrated with his efforts. In a burst of anger, he started flapping them and slowly rose into the air. He grinned at me. {Look, Rayne!} He exclaimed in excitement. In his triumph, he was inching to the side of the cage faster and faster. {Look out!} I shouted. It was too late. He ran into the bars with a clang and I started giggling. Pretty soon, it was full fledged laughing. I was on my back while holding my stomach. Tears started forming in my eyes. Chris snorted. {Like you could do any better.} {I don’t have to.} I smirked. {In case you haven’t noticed, I have no wings.} Chris scratched his head. {Maybe you have telapathy.} {In my wildest dreams, yes.} I heard a suctioning sound as the doors opened. Chris’ eyes went wide. I slowly turned and saw Larson with a whole bunch of chains and two muzzles. Behind him were eight rockets. Larson grinned. "It seems Giovanni wants to have a look at you." I looked quizzically at Chris. {Giovanni’s the big cheese of the Rockets.} he whispered. "It seems you two are getting along quite well. But, enough talk." Larson nodded to the eight grunts. "Secure them." There was one leader for each four grunts. One came to my cage door, the other to Chris’. Each had a muzzle in his hands. My grunt pulled out a key and stuck it in my door lock. I got ready to run. As soon as he opened the door, I shot out. Unfortunatly, they had tranquilizers. One grunt shot me in the side. I fell down, parylized. Larson chuckled. "I suspected you’d pull off a stunt like that." I growled. My four grunts ran to my location and carefully muzzled me. They also shackled my paws so I could walk, but to a certain degree. Lastly, they fastened a metal collar around my neck, chains connected to two sides. These were taken by two of my grunts. My parylisis wore off. I lunged at one of my captors, but the other pulled on his chain and I crashed to the ground. I tried get up, but I seemed to have been stunned. I heard a loud snarl and turned my head to see Chris bound in almost the same way. His back legs had been left alone, because they assumed he couldn’t do anything with them. His wings were pinioned to his sides with chains. He was also muzzled and had the same collar as me. Larson smirked. "Well, now that we’re all set, let’s go." We started walking out the door and down a long white hallway. We stopped at an elevator. I wonder if what Chris said about telapathy is true…maybe I’m an ice/psychic type. I already know I’m an ice type…I mused. My thoughts were interrupted by a jerk on my collar. I was yanked into the elevator. The doors closed and I felt us going up. There was a sudden stop and the doors opened into the lobby of an office. Time to try out that theory of Chris’s, I said to myself as we passed through the doorframe. I dug deep into the parts of my mind, searching for something. I hardly heard Giovanni speak. I concentrated. There! A bump. I touched it and opened my eyes. A psychic blast threw Giovanni’s desk into the wall. Giovanni jumped backwards in surprise. "WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THAT ONE KNEW PSYCHIC ATTACKS?!" "I-I’m sorry sir! I didn’t think she’d learn that fast!" Larson stammered. I turned my head to see Chris beaming with pride. He was right after all. I concentrated on our bindings and broke them quickly. {RUN!} I yelled. Chris and I sped through the doorway, startling some Rockets. The elevator was currently closed. I panicked. Before I could do a thing, Chris breathed and fired a mega punch at the wall. Outside the building, we could see Saffron city. {TIME TO TEST THOSE PSYCHIC POWERS OF YOURS!} Chris yelled. He jumped out the hole, flapping his wings. "Don’t let them get away!" I heard Larson yell. I put away all my fears about heights away, and jumped. I was free-falling four stories before I had the sense to use my powers to fly. I touched that same bump in my mind. I opened my eyes and saw the ground rushing towards my face. Right before I hit the ground, I shot up, startling several people out of their wits. I flew down the streets, narrowly missing several cars and trainers who gawked at me. I ran into a vending stand, scattering books and hotdogs. I recovered before I hit the ground and used more psychic powers to use teleport. I disappeared, and reappeared on the eastern-most outskirts of Cerulean city, near Mt. Moon. I landed on the ground and collapsed, exausted. I was just concious enough to see Chris and a group of three trainers running toward me before I blacked out. ***************************** "What’d you suppose it is?" I heard a relatively deep voice say. "Charvee, char, charvee." That was obviously Chris. Translation: She’s a human, you dope! A shrill voice called out, "Togepriiiii!" "Togepi, NO! Don’t touch it. We don’t know what it is yet," a feminine voice exclaimed. "It’s a pokemon, for sure, but what if its dangerous?" "Pika, pi, pikachu!" Translation: Hey! Wakey, wakey! I felt a small paw poke my side. I groaned. "Hey! It’s waking up!" I heard a boy shout. I opened one eye and discovered I was still by Mt. Moon, but Chris had his wings spread protectively in either side of me. In front of me stood three trainers. One was holding a small egg pokemon (who constantly trilled eagerly I might add) and she was the girl of two boys. She had red hair and was wearing a pair of shorts and a yellow shirt. The third always seemed to be squinting and his skin was deeply tanned. He wore a murky green vest and brown pants. The last was quite intresting. He obviously wanted to be a pokemon master, and he had black hair. He grinned when I stared at him. He was wearing a red and white hat, a blue vest, black shirt underneath and blue jeans. He also had a Pikachu on his shoulder who constanly inquired if I was okay. I groggily staggered to my feet and sat. My vision was clearing. The black haired boy squatted in front of me. "Hi, I‘m Ash. What’s your name?" {I’m Rayne.} I replied. He only heard this version: Bliz blizreon. The tan man scratched his head. "A Blizreon? I don’t think that’s in the Pok’edex. But, then again, neither is a Charvee." "Oh, of course they’re not in the pok’edex, Brock! They’ve obviously undergone some kind of mutation," the red head stated. "How can anything that cute," she said, gazing at me, "possibly be in the pok’edex?" {You okay, Rayne?} Chris asked. {I was halfway here before I spotted you teleporting. It was quite a show. I found these trainers and brought them here. After all, they seem pretty used to this kind of stuff happening to them.} Ash’s pikachu hopped from his shoulder and bounded toward me. {Hello! I’m Pikachu!} "Hey, Misty. Try making friends with it," Ash said. Before Misty could do anything, a net came down over Pikachu, Chris and I and yanked us into the sky. A maniacal, yet utterly stupid laugh echoed through the air. "Prepare for trouble!" "Make it double!" "To protect the world from devestation!" "To unite all peoples within our nation!" "To denounce the evils of truth and love!" "To extend our reach to the stars above!" "Jessie!" a woman with red hair called. A purple haired man stuck his head over the edge of a hot air balloon basket. "James!" "Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!" "Surrender now, or prepare to fight!" "Meeeeowth that’s right!" I, and even the humans below could understand this gibberish. "Team rocket! Gimme my pikachu! And release those wild pokemon!" Ash yelled. James smirked. "Oh, these aren’t WILD pokemon. They’re perfectly human." "HUMAN?! What are you talking about? They don’t look human to me!" "I should say USED to be human. The boss wants these two back in custody. You see, twirp, they escaped." "You rockets are more twisted than I thought! That’s insane! What kind of monsters ARE you?!" Misty grabbed Ash. "They kidnapped two innocent children for their expeiriments!" {Hey, Chris, burn the net.} I whispered. He saluted me. {With pleaure.} He took a deep breath and flamed the net with ember. It burned and broke. Chris, of course, flew to Ash and co., but Pikachu and I were still falling. I grabbed pikachu in my mouth by the scruff of his neck and landed on my feet. Quick as lightning, I sped to Ash, plopped Pikachu in hs arms and turned around. Now, needless to say, Team Rocket was really starting to tick me off. I wasn’t in the mood for this. My eyes glowed and I blew up the Meowth balloon with a psychic attack. "TEAM ROCKET’S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" They cried before disappearing in the sky. I turned around to see the dumbfounded faces of Ash, Misty, and Brock. "Wowee, did you SEE that?! It was awesome!" Ash exclaimed. "But, this still leaves us not knowing their names. Ash, do you have paper and a pen? Maybe they could write their names for us," Misty said. In about five minutes of shuffling in his backpack, Ash held out his prize. "Now, could you wirte down your names on this piece of paper?" he asked me. I glowed and psychoneticaly took the paper and pen. I carefully wrote my name and Chris’ name in neat letters. "Okay, so you’re Rayne and you’re Chris." Happy squeals were our reply. {Rayne, I think we should go back to Saffron to try and stop Larson’s plans.} Chris said to me. {Right.} I replied. {Adios, Ash.} Chris carefully held one of my ears and I used teleport to get to Saffron city. We arrived outside a pokemon center. I looked up at the sky. It was getting dark. Suddenly, my keen hearing picked up a news reporter’s voice from inside the pokemon center. I peeked throught the window and saw my image on the screen. It showed footage of me racing down the streets. "…And the authorities are completely baffled. Some say this myterious pokemon broke out from Silph Co. Others claim to have been knocked over by it. But yet another mysterious pokemon was seen right before the second." Footage of Chris showed him speeding toward Cerulean. A cocky trainer came on screen. "I don’t know what they are, but I’m gonna catch them!" he said, grinning. Hmph. You wish. I thought to myself. "Police will investigate the cause of these events tomorrow." Aparrently, our appearance had caused quite an uproar. I shook my head as I settled down for the night in a nearby bush. Chris snuggled up against me for warmth. The last thing I was thinking before sleep overtook me was, Why did this ever happen to me? End Chapter two.
