I, Pokemon

Chapter 3:
I, Pikachu

What?  You thought that I would be left out of this.  I have hands, you know, even if I rarely use them.  I am the First Pokemon, Mistress Electric, First of the new Seven, Creator of the EM Magnashield, Discoverer of the Thunder Canon, heck, if I went on, I’d have more titles than Ash.  Pokemon are the power behind the league, so it’s only fair we get some recognition.  I have to admit, Ash is about as good a trainer as I would want.  His innocence and lack of staunch support of the League means I don’t have to be put in a pokeball, and his dogmatic adherence to League guidelines makes him a tenacious opponent.  These days, I have to say that he’s been heavy on the phrase “forget it, I wrote it” but that can be overlooked.
I think that the pokeball is something that should be abolished.  If a trainer truly wants a pokemon to travel with him, he should show it why.  Might makes right is a terrible way to persuade; yet it’s the system we have now.  Look at the pokemon not kept in balls over the ages, and see how powerful and wise most of them were.  Me, for example.  I became a metalevel after only three years; I am also Ash’s best friend and officially a traveling companion.  Look at Mew, that huge pacifistic dragonite, and so many others.  Pokeballs can also cause obsessive insanity; just look at the pokemopolis destroyers.
I can tell Ash cares for me deeply by what he’s done over the time we’ve known each other.  I also know that he would do those things for any of his pokemon.  Ash will enter the history books for sure as one of the best League masters there ever was.
Enough about Ash, and the League, let’s get on to some topics that no one has mentioned.  Very few people know it, not even Ash, but I’ve been studying the ancient books and I know what my Path will be.  I am a natural weather mage.  It depends a lot on learning to control electricity, which I have done, and on knowing what will affect weather patterns in what way.  Pikachu are very in tune with weather, and I think that my racial heritage makes it the best choice.  I’m expecting that one of the ancients will eventually get around to mentioning the pokemon familiaris, a concept I stumbled upon one day in the library.  I think they’ve forgotten about how so many pokemon were made, and how the ley lines were manipulated back then.  I am definitely Ash’s familiar, although he might be mine.  The book isn’t specific about the attributes of a familiar, although I get the feeling that they were created, and that a sentient familiar is a rare thing indeed.  Well, a metalevel pikachu is also rare, and so is a metalevel pikachu being mastered by the chosen one.   It’s all a matter of degrees, really.
I also seem to have an affinity towards shielding, although the only reason I can think of is pretty abstract.  Electromagnetism shields the planet from many harmful rays, and as an electric type, I am connected to that shield.  Fishy, but it’s the best I’ve got.  I’m amazed that there aren’t thousands of people and pokemon clamoring to become magi and pokemorphs.  This may be the only sensible thing I’ve ever seen the majority of the human race do so quickly, and without circumstances that make them do it.  Either that, or something is being done by the magi to make it so.  I actually suspect the latter, since they said that in their day, there were very strict and powerful guidelines to how a mage was chosen.  They had to prove that they could do it by changing shape at will.  Supposedly that power will become natural soon, and Guardian Force help us when it does.  Things were bad enough when humans wielded pokeballs, now they can control magic, elements and technology at will.
If the reader isn’t disturbed by this, just wait until they combine their skill to remake the dark pokeballs of ancient times.  Then humans will know how it feels to be kept in a pokeball, and understand why pokemopolis was destroyed.  The humans started it, and the pokemon played out their conflict over how far they could go.  Eventually, all that was left were pokemon, and the empire fell.
I haven’t much more to say myself, except this.  Ash may have skill and ability when it comes to pokemon battling, but I think that he has much more skill at relations.  I even suspect him as a bestial kind of person, if you get my drift.  It’s a good thing he’s so pure, otherwise I’d be worried.
Author’s note: Pikachu is, as you’ve probably noticed very liberal and heavy on the civil rights and equality for all sentient beings.  She is also not very enamored with the sense of humanity, understandable considering her position.
