Did you read part one? You should if you wanna understand what the poo I’m on about. Okay, this is part two (duh!) Started: 8/5/03 Finished: 9/5/03 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Summer Camp Part Two Last time... “I have an idea!” Duplica put Ditto on her shoulder and, grabbing Misty’s hand, ran out of the door. “But we have to turn our lights off in five minutes!” yelled Whitney, sticking her head out of the door and shouting in the direction of the pair. “We’ll be back soon!” Duplica called over the shoulder that Ditto wasn’t on. Shrugging, Whitney closed the door and continued to get changed into her nightwear, which consisted of a nightgown with a picture of a Persian on the front, and a caption reading ‘Purrrr-fect!’ Cassidy changed into some yellow pajamas, with a picture of a Chansey on the front. “Where are we going?” Misty panted, struggling to keep up with the surprisingly athletic Duplica. “The lake!” she said, tugging Misty’s hand “Come on!” “Okay! I’m coming on!” Misty summoned up her last bit of strength and caught with Duplica in a burst of speed. A moment or five later, the girls arrived at the lake. They gazed out at the chilly expanse of silvery liquid, rippling slightly in the cool breeze, which chilled the girls’ ankles. “What exactly are we doing here, anyway?” asked Misty, shivering slightly and pulling her arms inside her thin t-shirt to keep them warm, and making her sleeves flop to her sides. “Getting you a pokemon.” Duplica replied, walking towards the water’s edge. “Now?” Misty said, following her. “No, next week. Yes now! Come on!” Duplica reached for her hand again, before realizing Misty’s hands were still in her t-shirt. Instead, she pulled on her t- shirt. Misty obediently walked after Duplica until they reached the banks and Misty peered into the blue depths. “Pray I ask how we’re gonna get a pokemon in this?” Misty inquired, looking at Duplica, who seemed unperturbed. “Ditto, use your Transform attack. Turn into a Goldeen.” Duplica ordered. Ditto nodded (well, as much as you can nod when you’re a pink blob) and hopped off her shoulder towards the water, transforming into the white and gold fish at the same time. When Ditto hit the water, it had completely become a Goldeen, and it went under water before surfacing and flapping its fins. “Goldeen!” it said in a musical voice. “Okay Ditto, go find a water pokemon and try to convince it to come back here. Any sign of danger, and come straight back, okay?” The Goldeen nodded and went back underwater. “And now we wait.” Said Duplica, flopping onto the grass. Misty was staring open-mouthed at the spot where Ditto/Goldeen had been. “What is it?” asked Duplica, looking concerned. “That was so cool!” Misty burbled “I’ve never seen a Transform attack before! It was amazing!” Duplica laughed. “You sure are easy to please!” Duplica grinned at Misty “You must not see many pokemon attacks, I suppose?” “Not really, my sisters only have a few pokemon, and they prefer performing at the local theatre than battling with pokemon.” Misty fell silent and sat down next to Duplica. About five minutes later, the water’s surface bubbled and Ditto/Goldeen surfaced along with a pokemon which Misty had only read about. “It’s a Vaporeon!!!” Misty squealed, clapping her hands together under her chin and her eyes sparkling. “Good work Ditto! Did you convince it to be Misty’s pokemon as well as come back here?” Duplica asked, kneeling down on the water’s edge. “Goldeen!” Ditto/Goldeen sang. Duplica turned to Misty. “Congratulations, here’s your first pokemon! Her name is Aqua.” (Authors note: Sorry, I’m no good at original names) Misty knelt down next to Duplica, and held out a shaking hand to pat Aqua’s head. Aqua smiled and licked Misty’s palm. Misty squealed in delight. “I love her!” Duplica patted her friend on the shoulder. “Calm down before you start hyperventilating, okay?” Misty nodded and took a deep breath. “Hang on; I have no pokeball’s. How am I gonna carry her around?” Misty asked, holding out her arms for Aqua to jump into. “Here, have this one.” offered Duplica, producing a pokeball from her pocket. Misty thanked her, and held out the pokeball. “Aqua, return.” she commanded. Aqua disappeared in a flash of light and Misty squealed for what seemed like the billionth time that night to Duplica. “I’ve always wanted to say that! ‘Aqua, return!’ Oooh!” Duplica rolled her eyes. “You need to get out more. Come on, we’d better get back before the councilors realize we’re gone.” Misty pocketed the pokeball and followed Duplica back in the direction of their cabin. -=-=-The boys on the way to the cabin, after dinner-=-=- Ash stayed downcast all the way back to the cabin. Brock and Gary tried to engage him in conversation, but he just ignored them. “Man, he must like her a lot!” whispered Brock in Gary’s ear, and Gary nodded. Ash heard Brock whisper that to Gary, and he sighed. ‘Right in one, Brocko.’ He thought, the image of Butch with his arm around Misty making him ball his hands into fists. ‘I’m gonna get Misty to like me better than that jerk!’ he promised himself ‘Then I’ll be laughing at that jerk!’ an insane grin spread across Ash’s face, and Brock and Gary exchanged looks of concern. “Uh, Ash? Why’re you grinning like a maniac?” asked Gary, tapping Ash’s shoulder to get his attention. Ash looked at him and a slight blush rose to his cheeks, as if he was worried that Gary could read his mind, or something. “Um...I was just thinking about something that I wanted to do soon, that’s all.” Gary looked at Brock in a way that said ‘We’ll attack on the count of three!’ Brock inclined his head to show that he understood, and held up three fingers. He put down one...Gary flexed his fingers...he put down a second...Brock tensed his muscles...he put down the final finger and the two boys pounced on poor innocent Ash, and began to tickle him mercilessly. “Wha...wha...what’re you-you do-doing?” Ash gasped between laughs. “Tell us what you’re gonna do, or you really gonna get it!” ordered Brock, his fingers poised above Ash’s stomach. Gary nodded, holding Ash to the ground. Ask looked at them desperately, before sighing in defeat. “I’ll tell you back at the cabin, it’s too...public here.” They released him and he got up. The trio walked to the cabin in silence. When they reached it, they saw that the light was on. “Did either of you leave the light on?” Brock asked. Ash and Gary shook their heads, and Brock opened the door to find... Butch! (A/N: Sorry, I need to put something there to make it look more interesting!) “What are you doing here?!” yelled Ash, his hands becoming fists once more. Butch held up his hands in a sign of peace. “This is my cabin! I should be asking why you’re here!” “This is our cabin too.” Gary replied, going over to his bag and unpacking his nightwear, which consisted of a pair of baggy black shorts and an even baggier black t-shirt. Brock nodded (Is it me, or do they all nod too much? Oh well) and going over to his suitcase, which held his pajamas, which were brown and (you guessed it) baggy. Ash was staring at Butch so hard that I’m surprised Butch wasn’t feeling little daggers in the back of his head. Butch was already wearing his night clothes, which was a pair of green and darker green striped shorts. Ash was angry to see that he had a muscled chest, and so that Ash was outdone in that category. Butch turned round but Ash looked away and went over to his chest of drawers and retrieved his nightwear, which was a button- up black shirt and no shorts. “Hey where’re my shorts?” he asked, digging through his stuff. The other three stared as a HUGE ketchup bottle toppled out of his drawers and rolled across the floor to come to rest at Gary’s feet. They then looked at Ash, who had gone as red as the ketchup. “Ash? Didn’t you say that you were allergic to ketchup?” asked Brock, observing Ash with an appraising eye. “Yeah...so I did...heh, heh, heh...” Ash went, if possible, redder and Gary and Butch looked at his face as if they were wondering if they could fry eggs on it. Suddenly, something yellow jumped out of the drawer and picked up the ketchup bottle, hugging it lovingly. “Ash, is that your Pikachu?” asked Gary. “Ye-e-es...” mumbled Ash, grabbing Pikachu and receiving a small electric shock for his trouble. “You know we’re not supposed to bring our pokemon, don’t you?” questioned Butch, grabbing his bag and hiding it behind his back for some reason. Ash looked at them desperately. “Come on, it’s just a stupid rule! I’ll bet you have pokemon too!” Ash cried, pointing the finger of accusation at the other three. “Yes.” conceded Brock. “Me too.” added Gary “Why do you think I’m hiding my bag?” shrugged Butch, opening his bag and letting a Raticate jump out and snarl at Pikachu, who held his ketchup protectively. Brock opened the closet, and a Vulpix leapt from it and lick his master. Gary took a pokeball from his pocket and released an Eevee, which rubbed his leg. Ash’s eyes widened. “You all had pokemon and were giving me a hard time about it???” “Eh...” Brock just grinned at him “You look funny when you resemble a beetroot!” Ash groaned and resumed looking for his shorts. Upon finding them, he got changed and got into bed, Pikachu snuggled up against his chest. The other three followed his suit and got into bed. While Ash, Brock and Gary were cuddling their pokemon, Butch recalled Raticate. Ash thought that Butch had no compassion for his pokemon, and put that in his mental list of things he could use against Butch to get Misty. Ash closed his eyes and was almost asleep when he heard someone pound on the door. -=-=-Back to Misty and Duplica-=-=- “All the lights are out, and our door is locked! What now?” cried Misty, as Duplica tugged at the door handle. Giving up on that idea she hammered on the door, hoping that Cassidy, unlike Whitney was not a heavy sleeper. She was sadly mistaken. A mumble of “Just a little longer mummy...” was heard from Cassidy before she resumed snoring. Sighing, Duplica sat down on the grass with Misty, who was resting her head in her hands. “Welp...what do we do now?” asked Misty glumly. Duplica shrugged sadly, and Misty was surprised at how much emotion she could pack in a single gesture. Misty threw up her hands in distress. “This is the worst thing that could’ve happened! I mean, I get a boyfriend, I get a pokemon, and now we’re stuck outside of our cabin and it’s getting really cold!” Duplica couldn’t think of anything to say. “I’m sorry...” is what she settled for. Misty shook her head. “This isn’t your fault. If I wasn’t going on about not having a pokemon then we wouldn’t be in this mess.” “But I was the one who dragged you to the lake. So it’s my fault!” “But I was the one who made you go in the first place!” “But- oh never mind. We shouldn’t argue; it won’t help the situation.” Misty nodded in acceptance and snapped her fingers. “I’ve got it! Come on!” Misty jumped to her feet and ran off in the direction of the other cabins. Duplica ran after her. “Where are we going?” she asked, her legs pumping to catch up with her friend. “The guys’ cabin! We can ask them if we can stay there for the night!” Duplica thought about asking Misty if she was insane, but decided that the idea was probably the best they could come up with. About a minute later, they arrived at Ash and co.’s cabin. Misty skidded to a stop and rested her hands on her knees as she leant against the wall to catch her breath. Duplica stopped beside her and panted slightly, as she was more sporty. Once Misty had got her breath safely back in her respiratory system, she banged on the door a few times. There was a sound of four pairs of feet hitting the floorboards and someone saying “Quick, grab your pokemon! In case it’s an escaped criminal or something!” Duplica looked at Misty and they giggled silently. The boys quieted down and there was a noise of someone approaching the door. The door was thrown open and Misty and Duplica were greeted by the sight of Ash with his Pikachu on his shoulder, in a battle stance. Ash’s eyes expanded to the size of tennis balls and he turned as red as Pikachu’s cheeks. Brock looked over his shoulder. “Duplica! What are you doing here?” Gary and Butch appeared on either side of Brock. “Misty! Sweetheart! What is it?” exclaimed Butch, grinning at his girlfriend. Ash looked over at Butch and muttered something that I can’t type (well, I could type it, except it would disregard the rating I’ve had so far). “Well, me and Misty here got locked out of our cabin when we went to the lake to...do something...and Misty decided that we should come here and ask if we could stay here tonight. Is that okay?” Duplica looked pleadingly at her boyfriend, and Misty looked at Ash worriedly, as he looked as if he was about to explode with redness. “Are you okay, Ash?” she asked concernedly, moving towards him. Ash just shook his head, wishing more than anything else in the world that he would stop blushing (well, what he wishes more than anything in the world is that Misty was going out with him instead of Butch, but anyway). Misty placed her hand on Ash’s forehead and felt his temperature whilst Gary and Brock smirked at him and made kissy noises from behind Misty. “Your temperature’s normal. Hold on...” Misty looked at Pikachu, who had jumped back on to Ash’s bed “Why do you have a pokemon here?” Gary came to Ash’s rescue. “We all have them! I have Eevee, Brock has Vulpix and Butch has a Raticate.” “Oh...” said Misty, unconsciously covering the pocket that held Aqua’s pokeball. “I have my Ditto, Whitney has her Clefairy and our cabin mate, Cassidy, has an Oddish.” “I...have a Vaporeon called Aqua...that’s why we got locked out; Duplica caught one for me in the lake.” “Anyway, can we stay? Please?” said Duplica, changing the subject before someone could reprimand them for being out after hours. The four boys looked at each other. “I’m fine with it.” shrugged Brock. Gary nodded in agreement. “I’m okay with it too.” approved Butch. Ash flushed once more. ‘Dammit! Just when it’d disappeared again!’ he thought to himself. “S-so they’d be sleeping where, exactly?” asked Ash in a forcibly relaxed tone. “Well, Duplica can sleep in my bed with me, and Misty can sleep in your bed, Ash.” “What?!?!” yelled Ash, Butch and Misty at the exact same time. “Well, Butch is too big to have anyone else in his bed-I’m not saying you’re fat!-and she can’t sleep on the floor cos we have no extra bedding, and she can’t sleep in Gary’s bed cos he has a girlfriend, and she might think he’s cheating on her, whereas Butch will know that Misty isn’t cheating on him, okay?!” Brock said in one breath, quailing slightly on the look Butch gave him. Misty shook her head. “Whatever, I don’t mind where I sleep really, so I’ll sleep in Ash’s bed.” Butch just sighed and went back to bed; Gary, Duplica and Brock following suit. Ash was a walking, talking, blushing machine at the moment. “S-so I’ll j-just sleep on the floor, shall I?” he said. “No, it’s okay, we can share. I really don’t mind.” Ash was now the Mayor, Mayoress, and Government of Blush overdrive city. “Allright...” “Hang on; me and Duplica haven’t got anything to wear in bed. And we can’t wear what we’re wearing now!” “No prob; Duplica can wear one of my shirts, and you can wear one of Butch’s.” replied Brock, providing a solution. Butch rummaged in his bag and tossed Misty a baggy purple shirt. Duplica pulled out Brock’s baggy green shirt for her to wear. “Can you possibly turn away while we change?” said Duplica in a voice that said “Do it or else!” The guys obediently faced the wall as Misty and Duplica got changed. Ash and Brock were now the most blushingest thing since BlushyMcBlush, since the girls they fancied were wearing very little, if nothing at all. Butch however was trying to angle his eyes so that he could see the girls in the mirror (what a flippin’ pervert!). Fortunately, he couldn’t see them (hallelujah!). Gary and the pokemon had just gone to sleep. Duplica got changed first and Brock felt a breeze across his back as Duplica lifted the covers and lay down next to him, wrapping her arms round his stomach. Brock hugged her back and they drifted off into a peaceful slumber. Misty tugged at the t-shirt, wishing it was slightly longer. Sighing, she lifted the covers of Ash’s bed and lay down next to him. She fell asleep quickly, while Ash stayed awake, staring at her milky skin and her bright hair. Without thinking, he leaned over and kissed her gently on the cheek. He fell asleep soon after that, his dreams full of a certain redheaded angel. Butch, however saw Ash kiss Misty through the darkness, and vowed to himself that he would do his best to keep Misty to himself. End of part two -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Oooooh! What’ll happen next? Will Misty discover Ash’s love for her? Will Butch show Ash up? Will the girls ever get back in their cabin? Read part three to find out! Yay! Another part done! It’s amazing how quick I’m turning these out, it usually takes a year and a day for me to write anything. I can’t believe that I did a whole chapter about a single night! I’m literally just making this up as I go along! And I’m really happy about how this is turning out! I tried to write another AAMRN, and it sucked. Anyhoo, you can comment on how you think I should improve, what should happen, or just tell me that you like it (yeah right!) by e-mailing me at sarah.e.wilkinson@fsmail.net If you don’t feel like it, you don’t have to. Byzy-bye! Luv Sarah the Swinub P.S If the end was mushy or whatever, it’s cos I was listening to ‘If You’re Not The One’ by Daniel Bedingfield. I might include that song later in the story!
