Chapter 4: The song that almost was <this is kind of a "aawww" chap, hope u 
like>

 

Our well known heroes woke that morning with nothing but the 13th annual 
Master's Ball, well at least Brock and Misty. Ash on the other hand woke to the 
aftermath of a wondrous dream he had that night. He dreamed that he was with 
Misty <of course> but they weren't exactly themselves. They were much older and 
they were both wearing wedding rings. He was in a bed and turned to his left to 
see Misty laying there asleep. She woke slowly and with all her beauty she 
owned, she smiled at him. Never has he felt this happy yet so sad. Sad when he 
was awake because he hoped what happened was in the present. Was it that non-
realistic that the only taste of this joy he got was a dream? Hoping for that 
one moment he got out of bed and got ready for a brand new day.

 

The sun was brightly shining for all to admire as construction workers began to 
fix the infamous Lugia Hall which would hold the 13th annual Master's Ball. Most 
known trainers found it as an honor to be invited to such an occasion. Ash was 
praying that he would get invited. He found out the previous day that you cant 
just go in like nothing. Oh how he wished they could. Maybe Misty would want to 
go with him. But in his mind he thought who would wanna go to a Ball with a not 
so well trainer who's dream is to be the greatest pokemon master? Maybe she had 
not cared for him that way. Ash guessed that happiness was really only a dream. 

 

Ash met Brock and Misty outside and they had plans to visit a few shops. Ash on 
the other hand wanted to train a bit. Brock and Misty went together to a few 
shops as Ash just wandered the city. He noticed a tall girl between the hight of 
Misty and Brock, about his height, staring at him from across the street. She 
had dark navy blue hair with a slim body and looked intimidated but she never 
took her eye off Ash. Ash stood there not knowing what to do until to his 
surprise he saw she was crossing the street towards him. When she got to her 
destination she then broke her silence. "Hi I'm Stephanie. Are you Ash?" How did 
she know him? Has she heard of him sometime in the past? "Uh, yea I'm Ash" was 
his response. "Oh" she began, "I was the girl that went on that date with your 
friend Brock. He told me about you and I was pretty impressed. Thats why I wanna 
challenge you to a battle". "Well I'm always up for a challenge but, I don't 
think now is the right time". 

 

"Oh, I'm sorry. Were you going somewhere?" "Well I just wanted to walk for a 
little bit. I had a lot on my mind". "Is something wrong?" "Well, its this girl 
and-" She cut him off by adding "Is it Misty?" Ash was surprised he knew her 
name. "Well yea. It is Misty. But how did you know?" "Well Brock told me about 
you two and he said that you two look like your hiding your feelings for each 
other". "Hey I'm not hiding! I tried to tell her". "Exactly. You tried. You 
shouldn't let anything stop you. You should just tell her how you feel. She just 
might share the same feelings." "Yea but, what if she doesn't?". "Then you 
should stop thinking so negative. Think positive." "I know I should, but even 
the fear of jeopardizing our friendship just by telling her is killing me". 
"Don't think negative. Don't think you might jeopardize your friendship. Think 
of it as making you two even closer, and making your friendship stronger." "I 
wish it was that easy...."

 

After an hour of talking with Stephanie, he went back to Lugia Hall to see how 
things were going to see the mayor of Joy City talking to some of the people. He 
also noticed that Brock, Misty, Rebeca, Jake and Kelly were there as well. He 
went over to them and listened in on what the mayor was discussing. "Ladies and 
Gentlemen! I would like to add to this joyest occasion that since all of you are 
aware of the tragedy of the 12th Master's Ball, there will be no pokemon 
allowed. Another note is the reconstruction on Lugia Hall will be complete in 2 
weeks. You will only be let in with your invitation as well." The people start 
to cheer. "It sounds fun doesn't it Ash?", he heard a voice say. He turned t his 
right to see it was Misty that said this to him. 

 

"Oh yea. It does." The Mayor began to speak once more. "To celebrate the 
Master's Ball, my wife's Jigglypuff would like to sing a song." Only Ash, Misty 
and Brock to their surprises were the only ones that went to get away but they 
were too slow. The Jigglypuff began to sing its song. Misty covered her ears but 
even with that she began to drift away. Ash saw this and ran to her and covered 
her ears with his hands regardless that he might fall asleep. He started to 
drift away until he was sound asleep on the floor; his hands still glued to 
Misty's ears. Misty found herself awake. She looked around to see Jigglypuff 
scribbling with her marker on the people that were sleeping's faces. Ash was 
asleep next to her and noticed the Jigglypuff was coming near them. It saw Ash 
and went for his face. Just then she jumped right in front of it. 

 

"HEY!!! IF YOU EVEN COME CLOSE TO THINKING ABOUT SCRIBBLING HIS FACE WITH YOUR 
LITTLE MARKER, THEN U COULD JUST FORGET IT!!!". With that the Jigglypuff ran off 
scared while everyone was sound asleep. Within seconds Ash began to wake from 
his non planned slumber. "M-misty? Are you ok?" he simply asked. "Yes Ash, I'm 
fine. And I have you to thank for that". Ash felt that fluster in his cheeks 
grow rapidly. To make him fell even more flustered, Misty bent down and placed a 
small kiss on his cheek. "Thanks again" she said to him. "Any time Misty" was 
Ash's reply. He watched her walk over to see if the others were ok and said to
