It's Relative-part three Misty looked at Greg. She didn't know what he meant. He suddenly got up and walked back towards the attic window. Misty felt compelled to follow. Greg made a quick run to the guest room and grabbed a few things and then reappeared a few minutes later. Uhh Greg, what are you going to do exactly do? Misty asked. She looked at him. He changed his clothes, he was now wearing basketball shoes, shorts, a Larry Bird jersey, and two black wristbands. It s all part of my plan. What plan. Misty asked as the two walked down the hall and then the stairs. To beat Gary at his game. Once they reached the living room, Greg went over and talked to Brock. Brock nodded his head and the two got up and left the house. Ash walked over to Misty and gave her a quizzical look. "What was that all about?" He asked. Misty shrugged. "Well I went to apologize, and Greg explained how he really hates people like Gary. Then he said he was going to teach him a lesson or knock him down a few pegs. I forget exactly." Misty explained as she and Ash went and sat on the living room couch and watched the t.v. Then Ash had a brain wave. "Misty how long before the Indigo tourney?" Ash asked out of no where. "Two months give or take. Why?" Misty looked at Ash with a confused look. "I know exactly what Greg is planning to do." ********* Greg and Brock walked down the streets of Pallet to the common, a group of basketball courts, next to the Pallet Park. "So that's your plan huh?" Brock asked as Greg unconsciously dribbled the basketball he brought along with him. "Yup, I have played in this tournament a while ago, me and Ash. Then I heard a rumor that Gary Oak was playing this year, him and some ringer I guess. I didn't even remember until I was on the roof earlier." Greg explained, while still dribbling the ball. "I don't understand." Brock said simply. "Well Gary wants to prove how great he is. This is the best opportunity for me at least, to prove him how wrong he is. By the way, how is your ankle?" Greg stopped dribbling as Brock stopped to test it out with a little jumping. "Great. I think I can do this."Brock said as he swiped the ball from Greg. "How come you didn't ask Ash?" "Well Ash is a really good pokemon trainer, but a horrible basketball player. He thinks to much." ******** "So what made Gary join the tournament this year?" Misty asked, after Ash explained Greg's master plan. "Well he has a pretty swelled head.(Understatement alert. Understatement alert!!!) And wants to win something else so the people in this town will love him even more." "I don't get that. Every one, including Professor Oak, know he is a jerk. Why do they still let him get away with everything?" Misty asked. "Because they need someone to live vicariously through, It's kinda pathetic really." Ash explained. Misty smiled and giggled. "I love it when you act all insightful." She said, leaning in towards him. There eyes met and they locked in a deep kiss. Once they broke apart the laughed and thought the same thing. "And no one suspects a thing." ********* Greg and Brock arrived at the common to find it almost deserted. Except for two figures who were shooting around. The two recognized one of them as none other than Gary Oak, they had no clue who the other one was, but they assumed that it was his "ringer". They walked to a hoop and began to shoot around. Brock was a little tentative, seeing as how he hadn't played in a long time, but soon he got his rhythm and began to hit shots. "Well if it isn't half of the loser squad." Gary said walking over to the two. His mysterious partner was with him also. Brock and Greg tried but couldn't figure out who it was, but he was tall. probably about 6'7". He was only an inch or so taller than Brock, who stood at 6'6". However he towered over Gary, who was about 6'1". Greg wasn't very impressed with this apparent giant, even though he was the shortest of the four, standing at a mere 5'11". "Get lost Larry" Greg said, ignoring Gary's comment. "We have a tournament to prepare for." Greg's cool attitude and total disregard for Gary impressed Brock. Except for Him, Misty, and Ash, no one really ever talked back to Gary, Brock found it quite funny. "It's Gary, and why are you bothering anyway. You aren't going to win." Gary figured this would provoke Greg, he was wrong. "I never said we would win. I only said we were getting ready for it." Gary stepped in front of Greg, who pushed him aside. "I just need something to do. I don't care if we win. As long as we try our hardest and give it everything we got I'll be happy no matter the outcome. Right Brock?" Greg looked at Brock, who nodded, and was trying his hardest not to burst out laughing at how much Greg was disrespecting Gary. He could see Gary getting mad. "Err that's it. I challenge you to a game, right now. Me and you, to twenty-one."Gary almost shouted. Greg laughed. "What's so funny?" "You are Larry, you did know the first three rounds of the tournament go to thirty one and the championship game is to fifty one." Greg saw Gary's face go white. "Well I accept, only we play to thirty-one, just to warm up. Best out of three. You game" Greg said very coolly, which infuriated Gary. "Fine let's go." ********* Well well, isn't this interesting. Gary has challenged Greg to play before the tournament(I need a name, any suggestions?) What will happen. Who is Gary's mysterious partner? Where are the pokemon(don't worry I'm getting to them. They will be in there, 'cept maybe the egg.). What's the deal with Ash and Misty?(DUH!) Will I stop asking questions? What do you think? This chapter is dedicated to Rinoa-san, because she gave me some positive feedback about my story and gave me the will to continue with this epic. (Right) So thanks Rinoa-San, and go read her story. "A true prove of love". It's good.
