It would most likely come as a tremendous shock to those who knew her, but Sapphire played the shakuhachi, the traditional bamboo flute. Music lessons had been part of her childhood, at least when her mother had wanted her to be the demure little lady. She hadn’t exactly turned out as one, and by the time she was eleven years old, it was a far cry from her appearance and demeanor both.

She blew dust off the flute lying on its one little stand in her bedroom, wondering if Ruby would like her if she were more feminine. Give how metrosexual the trainer from Johto was, though, it was up for grabs.

Sapphire felt much more at ease out training with her team. She would be doing that, except that Ruby was coming home from a month-long trip to the Shinou region with his mentor, Wallace, and his mother had invited them over for a home-cooked meal to celebrate.

So here she was. She didn’t have any dresses that fit, and she wasn’t sure she even wanted to wear a dress after all this time, but she could play him something. That wouldn’t be too weird, right?

After a few minutes of trying to remember the scales, she gave up. That would have to wait. Now, if she were brave enough to kiss him, this wouldn’t be such a problem! Stupid Ruby, forgetting their confessions at Mirage Island!

“Sapphire, it’s almost time for us to go!” Her father called from downstairs.

Where had all the time gone?

Frowning, she decided that her clean jeans and t-shirt worked just fine. Ruby already knew she was a tomboy. If he couldn’t accept that, she would have to rethink dating him, even if he had saved her.

            So there!

I’m actually a Metroshipping fan. But I thought I’d give it a whack, and one-sided love is much easier to do.

Sapphire being insecure over love is a bit strange, since she’s so outgoing and aggressive at other times. Still, I gave it a whack!
