“Red,” Lance’s voice was cutting into his dream. “Wake up. It’s over.”

Red blinked owlishly at his wife. He tried to speak, but found his voice not responding. His throat felt dry and parched.

“Shh,” She soothed. “It’s all right. How are you feeling?”

He found a pencil still clutched in his hand, so he scribbled tired across the top of the thick printed packet.

“I thought so. These League meetings are quite boring, and you haven’t been sleeping well the last week because of your cold, ne?”

Weakly, he nodded. Then he tried to stand, but his legs were strangely wobbly .It wasn’t the feeling he got from sitting still either, when his nerves went dead. It was almost as though he had no strength left…

The redheaded woman frowned, and then scooped him up, like he was a princess in one of those old romance films Lorelei liked to watch. He flushed in embarrassment.

“It seems that you can’t walk on your own. You’re probably still sick.”

Well yes, but that didn’t make him feel any better! Lance carried him down the hall to his room and then tucked him into bed promising to return soon.

Red closed his eyes and yawned. He was still very tired…

Soon, she came back with hot lemon tea, which was filled with honey. Red sipped it slowly, and that afternoon, sniffled and lay in bed as he listened to her read him fairy tales. It might be childish, but it was very comforting.

And Lance kissed him on the forehead before he left, which made him burn hotter, but until he got better…

            Oh well.

There was no point in risking it. If she got sick too, it would only make them both miserable. Besides, he could be patient, and he was still so tired…

            Zzzz…
