            “Lance-chan…”

“Yes?” He asked, setting down his coffee and business report as he turned to look at his wife, feeling the beginning of a headache. “What is it, Red-chan?”

“It’s Halloween tonight!” She beamed. “Can we go out and get candy?”

Lance chuckled. “Of course we can, Red, if you want to.”

“I do want to.” The black-haired woman grinned coyly. “Besides, I already have a costume. I’ve been working on it for weeks. Want to see?”

He vaguely wondered if he should have prepared something himself as well, but alas, work had taken priority.

“Certainly,” He followed her back to their bedroom, wondering. Red shut the door and told him not to peek until she was done changing. Although he was quite tempted to steal just one look, he managed to keep his eyes shut.

He was surprised when she hopped out in a bunny costume with silky white fur, painted black whiskers, tail, ears and all.

            How interesting…

It was very difficult to stop staring. At least the leotard was modest enough, he supposed, and the black leggings she wore would keep her from getting too cold as they walked around at night, but oh, the possibilities…

“We can play after we get free candy,” Red grinned, and that night, Lance took her trick-or-treating, though no one noticed how once or twice, it took them almost twenty minutes to walk to a house that was right next to another one.

It was lucky children could be quite oblivious!

He had no call for becoming melancholy yet. Red’s heart did not seem to be changing. Yes, she was childish, irritatingly so at times, but he could deal with that part of her personality, and he had to admit, it had its good points too.

She loved him still, he was sure.

            He smiled.

As for liking free candy, what was wrong with that? She was in no danger of precipitous weight gain, and he liked candy too.
