Brock is dependable, and he’s always looked out for her. Ash is as clueless as a brick wall and wouldn’t love her even if she pranced in front of him in a bikini with a neon glowing sign. Maybe its self-preservation and maybe she just doesn’t want to get her heart broken, but Misty s glad to settle for Brock.

Brock is surprised when he finds out about her feelings, but a real live girl, wanting to go out with him – even Misty – is enough to make him loyal and lovable.

This choice is the best one, really.

Misty does look pretty once she’s hit puberty, and Brock fears her mallet, so he’s not about to chase any other girl while she’s around.

He finally realizes that it’s not the looks that matter, but the person underneath, and Misty has matured into someone he loves.

At their wedding, Ash cheers. He is honestly happy for his friends, though he never suspected that they’d fall in love. It’s strange!

But now that he thinks about it, maybe Misty was jealous, and that’s why she always pulled Brock away from other girls!

Brock isn’t the prince she dreamed of as a little girl, but he’ll do, Misty thinks. And truth does turn out to be stranger than fiction.
