Drake spluttered as a bucket of water landed on his head, drenching him thoroughly. He rubbed the bump that was starting to form tiredly and looked at Clair, who was grinning unabashedly.

“And what, may I ask, was that for?”

            “April fools!”

The Orange Island Champion blinked, twice. It was that time of the year already? Well… in that case he’d have to think of a suitable trick in return.

Old favorites always worked best, after all…

Alas, Clair skillfully avoided the Whoopee cushion on her chair, refused to shake his hand when he hid the buzzer in it, and actually switched the fish-flavored gum on him. Drake was not sure how she had guessed that out of the three sticks of gum he had offered (Spearmint, Wintergreen and one in a plain wrapper), how she had managed to grab the only one that was normal!

She smirked as he gagged on the fishy taste, before spitting the gag out. “You’re years too early to beat me, Drake.”

“Did your family play pranks on you?” He hazarded a guess.

She rolled her eyes. “Do you think my stuffy clan would do anything like this? Nah, I went to summer camp once – it was eight weeks of this nonstop.”

            He goggled at her.

The Gym Leader grinned and gave him a peck on the cheek. “But if you can catch me, I’ll take you out to dinner tonight as an apology.” Then, she was off and running.

            Drake grinned, and gave chase.

I got a lot of complaints about writing too much Championshipping. So, I’m experimenting with other pairings…
