They’re weird, Joe thinks, as he watches Red and Lance. No one knows who he is – he’s just a custodian, but he gets to work at Indigo Plateau, and it is simpler than taking care of a school of high school students.

He watches them, and he thinks that whatever is going on really shouldn’t be his business. Lance has a vicious streak, and he’s heard others gossiping about her tendencies. Does she really kill fanboys?

Maybe it’s true, and maybe not.

Celebrities can be quite different from normal people.

That doesn’t make things any better to live with, though. He knows how both of them spend their days working on paperwork and their nights training their Pokemon, and he wonders if they sleep at all. No wonder all of the Elite retire quite quickly. Agatha’s gone, they claimed it was age, but he’s quite sure it’s only stress.

Red can’t cook, but he’ll try to, and often, Joe has to clean the kitchen full of splattered sludge.

But at least they’re happy, which is more than he can say for himself, so as he watches them run down the halls like children, throwing water balloons at each other, he almost doesn’t mind the work it brings and the mess he will surely have to clean up.
