(Lance’s POV)

It hurt. He bit down on his lip as he clutched himself, unsure as to what to do. What could he do? What could he change? The world would fall no matter what he did – he was only one man against humanity, after all. His plan at Cerise had failed. The planet continued rocketing down towards the path to destruction, and he shivered. He would cry, but tears saved no one, and that was to be expected.

Lugia had borrowed time, perhaps a few years, but soon enough, an industrial wasteland would rise again. What then?

He laughed bitterly. It would all be in vain, but at this point he was past caring. Let them die for their transgressions, and reap the whirlwind they had sown. He would have no part in it.

His boots crunched softly as he left Cerise Island, without a look back.
