He’s not trying to be a hero, really! He just happens to be in the right place at the right time all the time, and he’s quite sure no one runs into Team Rocket, as often, so is it bad if he fights the Grunts instead of running away like a coward? He’s a trainer, and he has a duty, and it’s good training for his pokemon, and if no one else does it, why does it matter?

Green says he’s a hero, and Red just scoffs, because all he wants to do is defeat the Elite Four and become a Pokemon Master.

… But for some reason, when Lance thanks him for his good deeds and kisses him softly, he feels different, and likes being a hero.

            Hmm.
