“You have to do it. You’re the only one who could find him. Please, Red, you’re our only hope.” The man begged.

Red cast his eyes heavenwards, but there was no mercy, and he closed his eyes, not wanting to dwell upon the man’s improper position. Seeing the fat president kneeling was quite a sight to behold, but not one he enjoyed.

“Why?” He asked. “Lance has already resigned. The affairs of Kanto are his no longer. We should pass the mantle of power to the next of the Elite Four. Agatha, perhaps, or Bruno.”

            “But Champion…!”

“President Goodman,” Red said quietly, “I do not hold much stock in rumors, but is there any truth to the one where you forced his resignation in the first place? Why such a change of heart now?”

Red had the satisfaction of watching the man change in skin tone. A furious redness covered his cheeks, before suffusing his entire complexion in an apoplectic purple. “Where did you hear that?” He growled, completely at odds with his earlier humble advances.

“From me, of course.” A different voice cut in. Goodman’s eyes shot to the door as the Dragon Master entered, cloak swishing behind him. “I daresay my opinions have not changed, President. Good day, and it would be nice if you stopped belaboring the issue. The Champion has more important things to occupy his time and attention, after all.”

Red smirked, while Goodman goggled like a landed fish. “Of course, now that I’m sufficiently of age, perhaps the man has changed.”

“I doubt it.” Lance shrugged elegantly, sliding into a seat next to Red as he pushed past the stunned President. “After all, he’s still as adamantly repulsive as ever. But really, Goodman, why would you want my advice? Can it be that your policies have finally driven Kanto to economic despair and you’ve come seeking a quick fix? If that is the case, I respectfully decline. I gave you plenty of warning, you can reap your own whirlwind.”

“I will have no part in your clean-up either.” Red purred, entwining his fingers with Lance’s. “After all, I have more important things to do.”

Goodman stared at them both, realization finally sinking in. “You mean… you… and he…”

“I don’t need to find Lance. I never lost him, unlike you.” Red smirked.

“I was never interested in you, President.” Lance flashed a fanged grin. “But seeing as you’re quite against anything that is untraditional, it would be nice if you would quit staring at us and exit while you still can.”

“Are you threatening me?” Goodman roared. “I’m the President here!”

“I know.” Lance shrugged. “But not for much longer.”

Goodman opened his mouth, but suddenly fell forwards, clutching at his chest. Lance rolled his eyes as Red glanced at the carpet.

            “What a mess…”

“Good thing you have dark carpet, ne? Ptera dear, feel free to eat him. I think we’d better adjourn, Champion. It would be terrible if blame were placed upon you for his demise.”

Red only smiled sweetly, before releasing his Ditto. “Heart attack. He’s old enough for it to work.”

“Oh, devious.” Lance remarked, as Ditto morphed into a perfect copy of Goodman, minus the blood and guts now spilling out. Hours later, the man was declared dead due to heart failure, and no one seemed to question why Lance had returned to head the new government.

It was lucky they never found out too much.
