“Just five more minutes…” Red mumbled, burying his face in his pillow. His bed was so soft… he never wanted to climb out from between the sheets.

A smoky smell and sudden heat made him reconsider though. He shot out of bed, seeing Charizard standing there, holding his tail in front of him.

“Ahh! Charizard, what was that for?”

Charizard huffed out a plume of smoke. Red sighed.

“Mom sent you to wake me up again, didn’t she? All right, all right! I’ll get up!”

He headed downstairs, yawning, still dressed in his pale blue pajamas, as his Mother smiled and gave Charizard a pokétreat.

“Oh Charizard, you’re wonderful. You always wake Red up right away!”

“Do you know what he does to wake me up?” Red murmured, brushing back his wild hair as he glanced into the hand mirror.

“Don’t be angry, Red. I made you miso soup and natto over rice for breakfast. You need to eat up – don’t you have a Challenger to defeat today?”

Red blinked, twice. “Oh yes. I almost forgot!” He dashed upstairs and changed into a clean pair of jeans and a green t-shirt, grabbing his red-and-white vest from where it had been thrown carelessly over a chair.

He couldn’t be late!

After a quick glance at the kitchen clock, he determined that he had half an hour. There was ample time to eat and fly to the Plateau.

But he still wished he could have slept just a little bit longer…
