It’s a feeling he can’t stop, something that he can’t change. He’s caught in thrall like a foolish girl, and it frightens him. Beneath all his flash and glitter, his heart hurts. It’s not comfortable, and he most certainly hates being weak like this!

If he admits the truth, he’s not quite sure what draws his attention to the other man so strongly. He studies his profile, seeing steel-gray hair and brilliant eyes.

What would Steven say if he told him? Would he brush it off as a joke? Would he be flattered, and yet not want to compromise their friendship? Would he – Kyogre forbid – be disgusted?

Or would he feel the same way?

Wallace isn’t sure, which is why he’d rather study Steven from afar, and keep his thoughts to himself. After all, his quiet adoration doesn’t hurt either of them… right?
