Sometimes, Red really hates hiding his relationship with Lance. He knows there’s a good reason for it – first of all, he’s underage, and second of all, he’s supposed to be straight. The most important reason, of course, is that everyone knows Lance is dead, except for maybe Silver, but Red’s sure Silver won’t tell. He erased his memories with Poliwrath’s Amnesia himself.

selfish, and he wants to keep Lance to himself. Clair only cares about family
honor, and aside from Red, really, no one cares about Lance. Sure, the pokémon

He works for the pokémon now, healing wild pokémon that make the way there. It almost suits him. After all, Lance tried to destroy humanity in an effort to help pokémon, so now it’s just a different application of his principles.
Red finds it charming.
He finds Lance pretty, a pretty dragon with bloody hair and golden eyes. He likes to watch while Lance works with his patients, because often, pokemon will not go to Pokemon Centers and suffer in silence instead. Every so often, Red takes Lance to other regions to play his skills, and they both enjoy it, because they can walk around without fear of being recognized, and continue their work.
One day, Red thinks, things will be better, but until then he can wait, and as long as Lance still loves him….
