The morning dawned, as all rainy days do, gray and dismal. Red contemplated climbing back under his nice warm covers, but remembered that he had a presentation to give, and slowly inched out. He shivered as his bare feet met the wooden floor and hopped over to his fuzzy pink bunny slippers. After a quick shower, he felt marginally more human. Then he had put on a heavy light brown coat over his normal jeans and t-shirt. Finished dressing, he put on his sneakers and exited the room to see how the others were doing.

There was a thick layer of fog outside the window. Red found Lorelei staring blankly into a cup of hot tea, and Lance toasting a bagel.

            “Morning,” He said quietly.

“Morning, Champion.” Lance said. “Are you ready for a big day?”

“Not really. I’m still sleepy.” He admitted. He went to the cupboard and took out a box of corn puffs, pouring a bowl full.

“The milk’s expired.” Lorelei said dully.

“Aww, really?” Red pouted. “Too bad.”

He decided to make himself a cup of hot chocolate instead. Hot water and a packet of instant mix with marshmallows later, he sat down at the table next to Lance.

Lance chuckled as Red began dunking corn puffs into his chocolate. “Well, that’s quite unorthodox.”

“I’m hungry.” Red defended. And he liked cereal!

Lance kissed his cheek. “Well, good luck.” He got up and took his bagel, slathered on some blueberry cream cheese, and put it in a plastic bag. “Sorry I won’t be here. I’ve got that conference in Dewford.”

“It’s okay.” Red sighed. “I’ll see you tonight.”

            Lance nodded, and waved goodbye.
