“I can’t believe it!” Red fumed. “Of all the days to have our four-hour midterm on, it had to be Halloween!” He was ready to kill Mr. Richards, his anatomy teacher, for doing this to him.

            Lance nodded.

“And I was so tired! We had to spend over two hours identifying body parts in those stupid cadavers! I hate nerves! And muscles! And blood vessels! How was I supposed to know that it was the popliteal artery and not the femoral artery! They labeled it wrong!”

The Dragon Master just chuckled as his boyfriend ranted.

“And don’t even get me started on the skull! Stupid sphenoid and ethmoid bones! And the Pyramidal and Purkinje cells in the brain!”

After fifteen minutes, Lance shut Red up the best way he knew how. He kissed him, hard, sliding his tongue into his mouth.

Red flushed. “And… I didn’t get to trick or treat or play with you because I was exhausted.” He sniffed.

“I know, love.” Lance ran his fingers through spiky black locks, smoothing them down. “Why don’t we play now?”

            “What about the candy?”

            “I’m sure I can think of something…”

As luck would have it, a local church in their area was hosting a ‘post-Halloween Halloween event to shield innocent young children from the satanic dangers of going to get candy door to door’, so there were games and candy.

Red was a bit old, but he had naturally cute looks, and once he was dressed up as a pirate, no one was able to recognize him.

He adjusted the eye patch over his right eye as he ran to the popcorn machine. “One popcorn, please!”

“Okay! Small popcorn for the pirate,” The woman behind the booth smiled. “Would you like butter or cheese or caramel flavored?”

            “I’d like cheese!”

“Here you go.” She handed him a small paper bag. What a cute child.

Red ran back to Lance, munching on his treats. The Dragon Master smiled. Anything to make his lover happy…

They watched three kids run past. One was dressed as a witch in black with a little broom, another had floppy dog-ears and polka-dot pajamas, and the third was a mummy, who was trying hard not to trip over his bandages.

Lance lifted Red’s cock-eyed hat up over his eyes, admiring the skull and crossbones made out of tinfoil. “You worked hard on this.”

“Well, you did too! Thanks so much for making my vest!” It was dark red with gold piping on the edges. “Ne, Lance! Want to go jump in the bounce house with me?”

“Well, not right after you eat that popcorn.” He chided.

            Red shrugged. “That’s fine!”

They walked down the aisle. Red spotted a booth with baseballs and baskets, so he went in line.

After he got up to the front, he tried twice to land the baseballs in the wicker baskets, but they kept bouncing out. Still, it was free, so he didn’t mind.

He dragged Lance to the duck pond next.

“So, whatever you catch is your prize?” Lance looked at the yellow plastic ducks bobbing in a wading pool a bit dubiously.

The man nodded, handing Red a small pink plastic net.

Red scooped up three ducks in quick succession. Two were blank, but one had a number ‘two’ printed on it. He got three little bouncy balls in reward.

Red ran off to the face painting booth next, and got a Charmander drawn on his right hand. Then, after several more games, they went to the bounce house.

            “Ready?”

            “Ready.” Lance said.

The woman smiled. “It’s nice to see such a happy family.”

Most parents wouldn’t keep their children company for very long, and almost all of them just dropped them off and left.

            What a kind father!

The Johto Champion just smiled and decided not to disillusion her. They began to jump up and down on the inflated plastic, Red giggling all the while.

            “Whee! This is fun!”

“I know.” Lance bounced across on his stomach, pinning Red down.

Bright ruby eyes winked. “No fair!”

“Everything’s fair in here!” Lance began to tickle him. Soon, many other children came in, and they all jumped around.

Lance was panting slightly by the time he and Red exited. That had been quite stimulating. Children were so energetic.

Red spotted another booth. “Now can I get something to drink? I’m thirsty.”

            Lance nodded.

He plunked three hundred pokeyen in the donation can, thought better of it, and added another thousand. Red had really enjoyed himself.

Red grinned as he got a root beer float, happily sipping up the creamy mixture. Lance shrugged, and ordered a caramel apple, pleasantly surprised when one arrived, dripping with warm caramel.

            Well, well…

After they had finished their snacks, Red played a basketball shooting game, winning two candy bars, and then, they flew back to the Plateau.

            “So, did you enjoy yourself?”

“Yes!” Red grinned. “I feel a lot better now, Lance!”

The Dragon Master’s grin turned wicked. “Are you up for doing more adult celebrations now?”

            “Sure.”

Yes… I didn’t get to Trick or Treat this year or party either. *Sniff* and I know lots of churches that do pre or post-Halloween events on the weekend before or after. I used to volunteer sometimes.

And Red does act like a kid! Plus he looks like shota even if he’s sixteen *Cough*
