Wataru sighed as he watched the sun rise. Such a pity… it was such a pity that Aqua-Dan and to a lesser extent Magma-Dan had succeeded in controlling Groudon and Kyogre… and why on Earth had they sent him out and not Mikuri or Daigo? Lugia only knew. Not only that, but Satoshi and his friends had showed up and interfered in his investigations once again. The Dragon Master closed his eyes as his speech finished, and wondered if what he did was really worthwhile. There were always people trying to use pokemon for evil – did he really want to fight against it for the rest of his life?

He stroked Kairyuu’s scales idly, and decided that he had better get going. After all, his mission was complete…

“Wataru-san?”

Satoshi’s voice broke into his musings, and he turned around. “Yes, Satoshi-kun? Was there anything else you needed me for?”

Satoshi fidgeted, looking almost embarrassed, as he turned to Wataru. “I haven’t thanked you for saving me and Pikachu yet.”

“I did nothing.” He said. If not for Groudon, coming in the nick of time… he shivered. Kyogre’s power was terrible, and his Kairyuu and Gyarados had been little help. They might all have perished in the flood.

“Even so…!”

“Satoshi-kun.” He said. “I must leave now. Take care of yourself, all right?” He turned, not meeting Satoshi’s eyes, suddenly frightened of the admiration he had seen reflected in those amber depths.

Impossible. It could not be… he and Kairyuu soared off, and he thought no more of it, but… he already knew.

I was never sure whether it was a sunrise or sunset at the end of the Groudon VS Kyogre episodes, so for purposes of this prompt, it will be a sunrise! And I used Japanese names because um, Satoshi is cooler than Ash? Actually, it’s cause I have the episodes in Japanese RAW, so… ^^
