They don’t speak of love – because they don’t need to. It would be improper of the Pharaoh to admit his emotions, and Mahaado understands this very well. The Dark Magician gazes up into guileless ruby eyes, wondering if he is the only one privileged enough to see the vulnerability within. He supposes that he is.

            He is honored.

It is difficult, because he will always be the servant, and Yami no Yuugi the Master, but that does not dilute their passion one iota.

He burns for his lover’s touch.

Yami smiles as he kisses his Dark Magician gently, not timidly, of course, because he would never act so foolishly, but it’s a reassurance more than domination, and there is no command forthcoming. It does not sadden him, because he is Pharaoh and having a loyal friend and lover is worthwhile indeed. And love, if this soul deep feeling is love – and it must be – is more sacred if one does not speak of it and flaunt it in the limelight. That is something that some cannot understand.

They have never needed words in the past, and even in the future when his memory is in fragments, what worked then still ticks on.

Long, blonde hair falls over his hands, soft as fine linen strands. It is a delight to close his eyes and revel in the softness, to lay down the burden of state for a time, to simply… live.

So he does. They do. Together.
