Coming to Orre was such a bad idea.

Red wipes sweat from his eyes, and tips the last third of his water bottle down his throat. He wonders vaguely how much longer he has to walk to get to Pyrite Town, and resolves never, ever to try to walk through the desert again!

            He feels ready to die.

Pikachu and the others are in their poke balls; since there is no way they’d want to suffer through this blistering heat with them. Red blinks, before realizing something.

Maybe he doesn’t have to walk…

He calls out Vaporeon to fill his water bottle with water gun. The fantail water-type smiles, her eyes sparkling with mirth.

After she’s finished, he recalls her, because it’s hot out here. Still, who says that they have to travel in the desert heat?

            Sandslash is summoned next.

They tunnel through the ground, where it is nice and cool. Then, by the time they get to Pyrite, Lance is waiting.

Red clings to the Dragon Master like a source of salvation, but that’s probably because Lance is holding two slushies, one cherry flavored and one blue raspberry.

He eats cherry first, and by the time he’s halfway through the blue raspberry, he is feeling more human and less like a dried out piece of meat.

Lance drags him to a nice, air-conditioned hotel, and Red just follows mutely. And when his boyfriend pushes him onto the bed with a familiar predatory look in his eyes, kissing him hard, Red just smiles.

This type of heat he doesn’t mind at all.
