“Would you like fries with that?”

He cast the server a disdainful look as he picked up the cheap plastic tray containing his meal. “No thank you.”

Paul carried his order back to his table. He consumed his soda and pizza quickly, before leaving the restaurant. He had training to do and did not want to stay in this little town any longer. It didn’t even have a gym.

There weren’t any promising trainers to challenge. Hmph.

He wandered out after finishing his meal, and, lost in thought, didn’t notice until he was dangling off a cliff with a vine twisted around his ankle. He tried to pull himself up, but couldn’t.

            Damn it.

There were footsteps. He looked up and saw the serving boy from earlier.

            Paul gritted his teeth.

“Sorry.” The boy said unrepentantly. “But we don’t appreciate people like you in Chartreuse.”

            He cut the vine.
