Red rather likes winter, because no one runs around training pokémon in freezing weather, especially when snow coats the land for a few weeks. Then even the Gym Leaders shut their doors and the Elite Four and Champion can take a well-deserved break. Lorelei makes wonderful Christmas cookies, all nicely frosted, and Bruno will build a roaring bonfire and Lance contributes his secret hot chocolate recipe while Agatha cooks dinner – the real food. His mom will fly over or take the bus and it’s really not a problem if she visits.

There are lots of presents in bright paper, and sometimes carolers will come by though it’s only happened twice in his five years as Champion. The first two years, he was quiet, but the third year, when Lance kissed him under the mistletoe, that was the absolute best!

Red smiles, and sips his hot chocolate, as he cuddles against Lance, and feels that Winter in the Plateau is absolutely wonderful.

… Just walking in a Winter Wonderland…
