“I don’t want to be alone,” She whispered brokenly, wrapping her arms around herself. Her brown pigtails shook, bouncing up and down under their red kerchief. “Please don’t leave me alone…”

“Why would anyone like you?” The green-haired boy asked. His voice was cold as he stood there with his arms crossed, a sneer on his face. “You’re just a weak little girl. You couldn’t win honestly if you tried!”

“No! I’m not!”

She shook her head, trying to deny it, but the tears running down her cheeks belied her true emotions.

“You’re nothing but a whiny brat. You’re not even worthy of being a trainer. You’ll never win a Contest at this rate…”

May tried to shut his voice out, but it wasn’t working.

“You’re not even worthy of being my rival. Why are you trying? It’s useless.” He advanced towards her, leering.

“Stop!” She jerked awake, gasping.

Drew blinked sleepily as he shifted on the bed. “May? Did you have nightmares again?”

For a moment, the Petalburg girl shivered, before hugging him tightly. “Yes.”

“Don’t worry. I’m here now.”

May nodded closing her eyes and trying to relax, but her worst fear went unsaid.
