There were berries missing again.

Delia sighed as she bent down to tend to her plants. It had been a new thing, to try growing berries in her garden for profit. After all, once her front lawn was filled with berry bushes, as long as they were watered daily she could make a good income. Berries were becoming popular with pokemon trainers, being cheaper than potions and other healing items, and they made pokémon happy when eaten.

It had been such a good idea, but now, as she smoothed dirt from around her Sitrus berry bush, eying it critically, she was forced to admit that a good half of the expected crop was gone.

Perhaps there really were wild pokémon around these parts, but save for the few Rattata she saw occasionally out of town, she could think of nothing. Delia wiped her forehead with a towel, before gathering up her tools.

Perhaps she would have Mimey watch the patch tonight.

The culprits turned out not to be pokémon, but several of the neighbor’s children, who had stolen the berries to sell for pocket cash. Delia was less than pleased, but was forced to admit that perhaps she should have watched her harvest more carefully.

After all, how else was she expected to support herself?

I just well, don’t like the berry growing system of D/P much. Also the fact that some berry spots have people that continuously walk in front so you can’t water your berries is irritating, and if you don’t water them enough you only get 2 berries… and I suppose Delia, if not a trainer, could make a living growing and selling berries, since she doesn’t seem to have any other job!
