The leaves are falling outside of the Plateau, brightly red-gold. Red and Gold – the colors of their eyes.

They’re growing older. It’s been another year, after all, but Red doesn’t really feel older. He thinks that he would be perfectly content to be ten, no, maybe fifteen, for the rest of his life.

When he tells Lance this, the Dragon Master leans over and ruffles his hair amiably. Then, he kisses him. Red never protests.

Red loves Lance, but sometimes, he wishes he wouldn’t leave marks on his body, thin lines of red veined like leaves.

But really, maybe he doesn’t want to be ten. Because then he’ll be too young to do ‘adult things’, and Lance will hold him close with a sad look.

Of course, now he understands, but he didn’t, back then.

Still, they’re not too old to play in the leaves, and they both dive into the neatly raked pile without regret, Red laughing as Lance brushes bits of autumn’s glory out of his hair.

            They kiss again.

I am going to hunt down and kill that bus driver who made me late for chemistry… I missed almost all of the lecture… *Pissed off*

Anyways, this theme made no sense to me so I managed to work ‘young’, ‘leaves’, and ‘mark’ into this drabble. Praise me!
