Prince Red lives in a castle high among the clouds. His father is the Lord of Lightning, Zapdos, but he has no idea whom his mother is, for his father is not married.

Red grows up not quite lonely, because there are other children who live in the sky. Bright-eyed Charlotte, Moltres’s daughter, and quiet Lance, who spends half his time below the sea with Lugia-sama, and Sabrina and Erika, Serebii’s twins.

There are older children too, but mostly, they live on land, now that they have their own castles.

Red likes Lance best, because they are the only two that can fly. The others can float, and levitate, and warp from one point to another, but he and Lance are the only two who have wings, bright gold and soft blue.

Lance should look girly, since he wears white robes, but he doesn’t.

Red rather admires him for a reason he cannot fathom.

When Red is older, he learns that he is betrothed, and to all people, it’s Lance. He supposes he’s lucky, but he’s not quite sure how two boys can be together.

Still, he’s not about to complain, and the first time, Lance is very soft, and it doesn’t hurt at all.

In fact, Red decides that it’s nice, and he likes it, and if this is what marriage is really for, he’ll go through with it.

The night they get married, there’s a brilliant meteor shower completed with jagged lightning displays.

But the people on earth don’t know why, or what has happened in the Castle in the Sky.

I haven’t actually seen the ‘Castle in the Sky’ anime movie, so that’s why I didn’t use it for this theme.
