Red knows that he shouldn’t play with Father’s knives, but they’re bright and shiny, and he wants to learn how to dragon dance too. Nevertheless, its lucky Lance is at home when Red cuts himself, because he cries loud enough to wake the dead.

The Champion frowns as he teleports into the room, seeing Red holding his hand and whimpering. The blades are clustered around him, and he makes a mental note to put them somewhere higher, out of reach, though how Red managed to climb up to the top of his closet is debatable.

“I told you not to touch them.” Lance says not unkindly, but Red only cries harder. Lance takes his hand and kisses it, and his tongue flicks over the wound. Red’s sobbing slowly recedes, and when Lance is finished, there is only a thin slash left.

He doesn’t heal all of it, because then Red wouldn’t learn the lesson, but at least now it’s only a minor inconvenience instead of a major weakness. Red fidgets as Lance wraps a bandage around his hand, but he really does understand this time.

He just wishes Father wouldn’t be so quiet. It makes him frightened, and so as Lance turns to leave, Red tugs at his arm.

Lance picks Red up and gives him a quick hug to reassure him that no, he doesn’t hate him, before he goes back to work.

Red eyes the metal still scattered on the ground, and stays far, far away.

Always rate higher just to be safe…

Look! It’s learning by experience! Since Lance can coddle and cuddle, but doing it all the time would be mentally damaging.
