            On the first free day they have in the spring, Red and Lance pack a lunch full of delicious things, and have a picnic under the sakura trees in Indigo Plateau. The park is relatively empty, because it is a workday, and so all the businessmen and their families are notably absent. The only other inhabitants are a few women with their kids and some old people taking the sunshine. It’s a school day too, and for once, fangirls or chubby little brats demanding pokemon battles aren’t swarming them.

            Red munches on his onigiri quite happily, as Lance opens the thermos full of stewed oden. It’s still pretty windy, and he’s glad to stay warm.

            The cherry blossom petals are falling, and as a particularly large gust shakes the tree they sit under, both of them wind up covered in pink fluff. Lance shakes his head, trying to work the bits out of his hair, while Red just chuckles.

            He doesn’t mind being rained on.

            Still, the shower of petals is good for one thing, because everyone else in the park is busy cleaning, so no one notices when they kiss.

            Lance’s kisses are warmer than oden, and Red likes them better too.

Look! More fluff!

I guess I write fluff when I’m happy?

People go flower viewing in Japan, picnicking under the sakura trees in the spring. That’s called ‘Hanami’ or ‘Ohanami’ to be more polite. (Info taken from Elementary Japanese Volume 2 by Yoko Hasegawa)

Onigiri = rice ball

Oden is Japanese hot-pot stew, usually made in a kelp-based stock and simmered for several hours, often containing fish cakes, stewed daikon (radish), and boiled eggs in addition to other ingredients.
