“Y-You are in love with me?” Red squeaked.

Lance nodded. “Why is it so hard to believe?”

            “We’re both boys!”

“So?” Lance purred, leaning closer in. Red flushed as Lance kissed him on the cheek, before pulling away.

“I’m not sure I feel the same way about you!”

“That’s quite all right. I’m patient. Take all the time you need to sort out your feelings.” Lance remarked optimistically.

Red nodded, and then Lance left, his cape eddying around him like a pool of dark moonlight.

Red waited for his breathing and heart rate returned to normal, before he began to seriously ponder the question.

He knew Lance was nice, and kind, and sweet – they had been friends for years, after all, and he fondly remembered the rare instances they would play house. For some reason, Lance usually donned the apron and picked up the tea set, but sometimes Red did too. Of course, that was before they both went journeying.

They still kept in touch with phone calls and email, but it just wasn’t the same. And Lance was older than he was, with long hair like a girl’s…

Lance would make a rather pretty girl, and he batted that thought aside, distractedly. His hands wandered down, and he sighed.

            Why not?

Within moments, he was much more relaxed. Did he love Lance?

Well, not in that way, but why not? He certainly didn’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend at the moment.

Lance was nice and safe too. Red nodded. His decision was made.

Lance was outside reading the Daily Kantonian, but when Red came out, he put the paper down. “You have already made your decision?”

            “Yes.”

“I won’t pressure you if you don’t want me.” Lance began, but Red cut him off with a hungry kiss. Lance smirked.

            “Point taken.”
