“… You look different.” Lorelei finally said.

Red flushed, smoothing down the dark blue fabric of her jacket and skirt nervously. “Do you think so?”

“Well, normally you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt, so yes. What’s the special occasion?” She teased.

“Ah… Lance is taking me out…”

“Oh? He is? That’s nice. What are you two doing?”

“I’m not sure yet, but I hope it’s not shopping.”

Bruno choked as Agatha whacked him on the back.

            < Have fun. >

            “I’m sure we will!”

Lance was waiting for her when she left the Plateau, smiling.

“I’m glad you’ve shown up.” He commented, with a glance at the sky. Not late.

Red eyed him, taking in his current outfit. He was wearing pink overalls and a long-sleeved white t-shirt. It was actually quite cute, and not as over-the-top as some of the stuff he wore. She grinned.

            “Your hair’s so cute!”

“You think so?” He grinned back, long hair pulled into two fluffy pigtails tied off with pink ribbon.

“Yep! So what are we doing today?”

“I thought I’d take you to the Pokémon Theme Park in Fuchsia. How’s that sound?”

“Sounds great.” Red hugged him impulsively, and then they both hopped on Dragonite and soared into the sky.

At the fairgrounds, they were quickly ushered in – they had Annual passes, after all, and it was good publicity to boot! They went on six different roller coasters, the teacup ride, and three different Merry-go-rounds.

They were relaxing on a bench with blueberry ice cream cones when a girl looked at Red and did a double take.

            “A-Are you Champion Red?”

Red shot a panicked glance at Lance. Should she lie? Lance shrugged in response. It was all the same to him.

“No, I’m afraid not. I do look a lot like her though.”

“Oh…” The girl deflated. “I see. It’s just that you look a lot like her.”

“Distant cousin of mine, I guess.”

The fan’s attention was diverted as she ran towards a vendor selling Mylar balloons. Red sighed in relief.

“You know, if you want to remain discreet, you ought to wear something to hide your eyes.”

“I guess you’re right.” Red admitted. Lance slipped a pair of blue sunglasses with cat’s-eye frames out of his overalls and handed them to her.

“Thanks so much, Aneki.” Red purred, earning a slightly injured look from the Dragon Master.

“Older sister, ne? Pity…” Lance mused.

Red clambered onto his lap. “I’m a bit tired though. Can we go to the beach?”

Eyebrows rose slightly, before Lance nodded his assent. “I don’t see why not.” He flicked his wrist, releasing Dragonite, and the two of them climbed on.

The other fairground goers looked at the two. Then they looked right past them.

            “Psychic shield?” Red asked.

“Not quite.” Lance shrugged. “Notice-me-not. Sabrina taught me.”

            “Cool…”

They headed to the beach, and after a few minutes of dressing down, were ready to go play in the water. Red was a bit disappointed that she hadn’t packed a swimsuit, but she could deal with it, right?

… And as long as the beach was abandoned, no one would mind if they skinny-dipped… Lance stripped down in surprisingly little time, though she had to admit, she enjoyed watching everyone moment of it.

The two of them splashed in the water for a while, before Lance finally popped a question that had been ticking in his mind for a while.

“Say Red, do you actually have a swimsuit?”

Red frowned. “Well no, I usually just strip down to my boxers, why?”

“… Just wondering.” He said, too innocently.

“You are not taking me swimsuit shopping!”

            “Why not?”

“It’s just…” Red blushed. “I’m not ready yet, Lance. I mean, the skirts weren’t so bad, but this is a big step… I don’t even wear stupid bras and that stuff…”

He nodded, pulling her into a hug. “I’m not going to force you, Red. Didn’t I tell you last time?”

“Right.” She glanced at him for a moment, before she tipped her head up and he kissed her.

“Now come on, it’s getting dark. We should head back to the Plateau.”

“Pity we didn’t bring towels.” She sighed.

“Yes, well… it will be all right, ne? I’m sure no one will notice if we’re on Dragonite… and I’ll have the Notice-me-not shield up….”

Red’s eyes widened. “You’re not thinking-!” Actually, it might be fun.

“I am. Are you up for it?”

            She smirked. “Bring it on.”

Needless to say, Agatha sorely wished she hadn’t seen the two of them fly back. Children these days!

But Lance was right, Red thought, as she closed her eyes. It was quite fun.
