For all his harping and preaching on democracy, President Goodman really thinks of himself as a King. Well, that’s the best interpretation. The worse is that he’s an evil dictator. That is how the Elite Four view him.

They do know more than the average citizen, but when same-gender relationships are outlawed and punished with death, their restraint snaps quite cleanly.

Lorelei and Clair disable his guards, and Red and Lance subdue him with a dazzling combination of Thunderwave and Confusion.

They lead him to the guillotine, and as the blade crashes down, he screams in realization. It’s a lovely sound.

Red and Lance kiss afterwards, and rejoice in the streets, as the janitors quietly clean the blood away.
