Her hair was as black as jet, and her eyes were the color of fresh blood. She would have been beautiful, were she not dead.

She was a spider, casually spinning careless men into her web, and he watched, and waited. He waited, because even a spider would one day falter and fail, and on that day, the flies would live.

He did not want the flies to live.

So he watched, and waited, and watched her back. And she didn’t know he was there, not really, until she caught him.

But she understood, and she kissed him, and promised to never leave him.

That suited him just fine.
