Red was the sun, as brightly gold, brassy and exuberant. Lance was the moon, mysterious and dark and cold. She could not understand why they were together, and it hurt her heart.

He was the sun, brilliant gold, and Lance was the moon, but he loved Lance, and besides, the moon was but a reflection of the sun, was it not? And oh, the Sun could eclipse the Moon…

But the Moon was there to protect the sun always.

Red sighed as Lance wound his arms about his waist, the Dragon Master’s cloak trailing behind them like the wings of some dark angel. He closed his eyes and tipped his head up for a kiss, which was eagerly received.

Sometimes, he didn’t mind being eclipsed either.
