He caught glimpses of her when he first moved into the Indigo Plateau. He was not quite too sure what she was, or even who she was, but he assumed she worked there, since she seemed to know her way around the place. She always wore the same attire, black with a hint of blood red on the chest and hips, but her curves gave her away.

When he first asked Lorelei, the Ice Master stared at him like he was insane, and then pulled out her compact mirror and called Agatha. Red simply blinked, wondering what he had done wrong.

            “Is she a criminal?”

Agatha had shaken her head and fixed him with a solemn gaze. “She is no criminal. She is – no, was, the Champion before you.”

Red blinked. “So now she’s part of the Elite Four?”

“… She would have been, if she weren’t dead.” Lorelei sighed.

            That caught Red’s attention. Dead?

“She died two years ago, protecting the Pokémon Center here. It seems that she was unable to move on…”

            “Oh…”

“It is odd that you can see her. Lorelei and I do, rarely, because we were friends, but…she tries to stay out of sight.”

Red ignored the slight. “I should just ignore her then?”

“If you want to.” Lorelei sipped at her tea, ignoring her fluttering heartbeat.

            “All right.”

He saw her again three days later sitting on the edge of a balcony. She looked completely human, so much so that he was not surprised he had been fooled before.

            “Hello.” He said.

She turned to look at him, smirking. “So you finally figured it out.”

            “Yes. It’s… sad.”

“I don’t mind.” Lance grinned. “It was nice to have someone notice me.”

Red blushed. “Um… were you flirting with me?”

            “Only a bit.”

He hesitated, before he asked the next question. “Can I kiss you?”

Lance blinked in surprise. “Sure. But I’m not sure if it’s possible.”

Red leaned forwards and kissed her, before she gasped and pulled away. For a second, he was hurt, then stunned.

“Look! I can touch you now!”

            “You’re alive again?”

“Seems like it.” She grinned and hugged him. “Thank you. Now why don’t we get to know each other a bit better?”

“Okay!” He said, and they flew off into the sunset together.
