There are very few people who remember what happened before the Great War. Now, they are nothing but dried, dusty old men, who mutter in the bars and attempt to stir up rebellion without any hope of victory. Silph and Devon are gone, the only poke balls left are made out of apricorns, and gleaming cities have been replaced with mud-bricks, but mostly canvas tents. The people are peaceful, the pokémon roam, free, and everyone is happy, for the most part.

Of course, Lance acknowledges, they could have done it another way. Built up cities of stone and steel and glittering glass, and cut life to pieces to feed the fuel engines of rocket ships. But they both think that this way is far better, and he has no complaints.

They are special, and they are Elite, and the Elite will never die because of he blood in their veins, which is not human blood, but legendary blood, from fay or pokemon or even, both.

But all Red cares about is the fact that Lance is with him, and there are no detractors to shout and point fingers, because those who could not fit into their pattern of Utopia died, and …well…

What else matters when he has everything he’s ever wanted within reach?

Lance looks down, and he pulls the older teen into a kiss, and Lance surrenders, and that’s the best part of all.
