Red sighed as he skimmed through the latest damage report from Cinnabar Island. It seemed that some ‘Phantom Pokemon’, named MissingNo by the scientific community, was wreaking havoc on trainers there, causing strange things to happen to their pokémon and disabling their pokédex identification system at the same time. Most mysterious…

A knock sounded on his door.

“Come in,” Red called. Lance entered, a wry expression on his face as he placed a large stack of paperwork in front of the Champion. Red groaned.

“More insurance claims and the like?”

“Not quite.” Lance shrugged.

“No?”

“This is the pokédex data from the trainers. I was hoping there would be some pattern, but it seems completely random… the only thing all the trainers have in common is a pokemon that knows Surf…”

Red rolled his eyes. “That’s a lot of help…you pretty much need Surf to get to Cinnabar, unless you use a Flying Pokemon service…”

“I know.” The Dragon Master frowned. “There’s no rhyme or reason to it, really…” He shook his head.

Red threw his hands up in exasperation. “I give up! Whoever thought this was a good idea was obviously deranged! I can’t believe we have to deal with this on top of everything else!”

“Such is life.” Lance murmured, before he smirked. “But if you’re that determined not to work, maybe we can find something more… interesting to do.”

“I’m much rather spend time with you than a million reams of paper.” Red grinned, ignoring the leaning tower of paper on his desk.

“Point taken.” Lance grinned, and pulled Red into a kiss.

“Yep! Definitely more fun!”
