Those who do well will live well and prosper. Those who do not are punished. It’s quite simple.

Red watches the balances teeter ever so slightly on his Scales of Fate and Destiny. Lance gives him an amused look, pouring another cup of Earl grey tea. Charlotte bustles out of the kitchen with a platter full of cranberry scones.

“I’m not sure if these turned out right.” She says worriedly.

Two pairs of eyes meet hers. One is cheerful, the other contemplative.

The youngest Guardian grins as he snatches one off the tray. “I’m sure they’ll be great, Aneki!”

Lance follows at a statelier pace, picking one up for her self. Charlotte winces when they take their first bites.

“Hmm, a bit burnt on the bottom, but there’s nothing wrong with the taste.” The Ice Guardian grins. “The dried cranberries are a nice touch.”

“Oh good…”

“I like them!” Red cheers. He gives her a hug, and for a moment, they’re just three teenagers, not worried about the fate of the world.

Lance kisses him on the cheek, just a little peck, and the Fire Guardian rolls her eyes, but there’s no heat in it.

And the wheel of reincarnation spins on…
