Lance doesn’t remember his parents. Perhaps he should care, but he’s sitting in the grass, watching the Goldeen and Poliwags splash and play in the river nearby, with Ptera curled up asleep next to him. The wind rustles the leaves of the trees above his head, and sunlight spills honey-warm gold over his face. He laughs quietly as a Pidgey darts past, in pursuit of a fleeing Weedle, and nods.

This place is his true home. The Forest is his true family. After all, is he not a child of Viridian, blessed with her power?

How can humanity compare to that?
