Insects chirruped in the greenery. The sun was bright overhead. Two figures in shorts and t-shirts were standing on a practice field, close together.

Syaoran’s mind, the part that wasn’t going into overdrive every time he looked at Yukito, was congratulating him for coming up with such a great plan. He got to be alone with Yukito and there wasn’t anyone else around! It was perfect! And best of all, he could get free hugs in the bargain!

Yes, Syaoran had come up with the brilliant idea of taking archery lessons from Yukito. Never mind that the business with the Clow Cards was over and he knew Yukito was really Yue, it was still nice.

And besides, knowing Yue was there did absolutely nothing to dispel the furious blush that clung to his cheeks. His hands shook as he drew the bow back and fired. Yukito looked sympathetic.

“Don’t worry, Syaoran, for a beginner that was pretty good. But your stance is slightly off, so…”

Besides, Yue wasn’t awake right now, right? So it didn’t matter at all…

Yukito’s hands slid over his. “You’re doing this wrong, Li-kun.” He had to use a lot of self-will not to swoon as they drew back the bow together; luckily Yukito-san was taller than he so there was no problem with the positioning. The arrow materialized in the inner ring with a soft hiss.

“See?” Yukito smiled.

Syaoran nodded meekly and closed his eyes, savoring the moment, never mind the blistering heat and the layers that separated them.

This was bliss.

The rest of the lesson progressed in a haze, and he was vaguely aware of packing up their gear and cleaning up before Yukito waved goodbye to him.

And to think, he had lessons every Monday.

This was the best summer ever.
