She might as well be mute for all she can do. It’s not like they can hear her over the howling blizzard, but she’s screaming at the top of her lungs, insults, curses, cries for help, please don’t leave me behind! She should never have been foolish, wandered out onto Tengan Mountain all alone, not even a pokémon for protection, but she was foolish and took a bet she shouldn’t have, and now all they’ll have left of School Kid Elaine is a plastic pink book bag and maybe a few bones. The rescuers aren’t coming, no one knows she’s out here, and she’s going to die and what is she going to do…? No one’s going to hear her…

Suddenly, a bright flash of light! She shields her eyes, sees the unmistakable shape of a sled drawn by two Arcanines, brilliant orange plastic, and she almost cries in relief. She’s safe.

Her rescuer is bundled up in a dark blue ski suit, and she can’t speak for the first few minutes, crying tears of relief so hard he has to slap her on the back to snap her out of her hysterics. She sips scalding hot chocolate down at the foot of the mountain, and vows never, ever to do anything so stupid again.
