It’s obvious, for those who have eyes to see it. Delia smiles sadly as she watches her son. He thinks he’s hiding his relationship so well, but she’s his mother. Of course she can see the changes.

She’s not exactly pleased with the way things are. Why couldn’t Ash have fallen for Misty or May, or even Dawn? It’s not so much the fact that she minds he’s dating – there’s just quite an age gap between him and his girlfriend.

What if Luana tires of Ash one day? Will she leave her child brokenhearted? Is this just a fling? And doesn’t it make her a pedophile, when Ash reminds her of her own son, Travis? That is disturbing!

Delia hopes things are not as bad as she fears.

Ash giggles as he hugs Luana, and they walk back from town, holding ice cream cones. He has a smear of chocolate ice cream on his cheek, and she watches as the older Trainer winks, grins, and licks it up.

He blushes, and she feels a bit better.

They seem like they’re so much in love, and she and her husband were a few years apart also. Admittedly, the situation is different, but what can she do? With a stubborn teen like Ash, talking to him about his lifestyle choices really will not change anything. It might make him turn on her, and that is the last thing Delia wants.

…Maybe this can work.

Delia doesn’t hate Luana, of course. She just doesn’t want her little boy to get hurt. He’s all she has left now.

So she will trust that if this older woman can get through to Ash’s heart, then she can – and will – keep it.
