It’s not a choice to be made lightly, of course, but Lance always deliberates, before she makes her moves. She’s not a pawn, not completely, but she is tired of dancing to someone else’s life and dealing with betrayal again and again.

It’s so simple, really, and Ash doesn’t have a chance. He never did.

She works well this time, and makes sure that Ash hates her, enough to want to kill her, and then, as she stands before the hall of legendaries, she explains quite calmly that as Ash’s actions have clearly proven in the past and present that their love is no longer valid…

They don’t need her as a Guardian anymore.

Her father cries, and she’ll keep her power as Dragon Master, but she won’t have to remember and she won’t have to balance.

And that’s all she wants now.
