Red listened with half an ear as the priest droned on and on. He was starting to sweat while wearing his starched white shirt and full black tuxedo, and he fully regretted having agreed to this farce. Even if Bruno did want to marry Lorelei in a public ceremony, couldn’t he have picked someone else for best man?

On the plus side, at least he wasn’t suffering alone. Lance looked murderous, though only her eyes betrayed her intent. The fact that she had been forced to wear a dress, however, might have something to do with it. The priest’s cadences seemed to trail on for eternity until finally, he smiled.

“I now pronounce you a wedded couple.”

The crowd cheered, the couple kissed, and they ran off in a shower of rose petals and rice.

Lance stifled a yawn, before she and Red went backstage to change. Red happily threw off the many layers, pulling on his jeans and a comfortable red t-shirt, while Lance changed back into her flight suit with the red design on the front.

            “Are you ready to leave?”

“Quite,” He said. Fancy receptions were not his thing, and he did not want anyone else dancing with his wife. It was a quick teleport via his Espeon back to the Indigo Plateau. They went to the kitchen and sat down.

“So what did you think of the wedding?”

Long,” Red groaned. “I’m glad we’re not having one.”

Lance raised an eyebrow. “I would have thought you enjoyed pomp and ceremony.”

“Who cares about honor? I love you and I don’t plan to cheat on you any time soon.” He shrugged. “Plus, there’s this wonderful thing in your desk called a marriage certificate. Still, we could always get rings if we wanted.”

Lance chuckled, pulling him onto her lap into a kiss. “I see.”

He pouted for a moment, before kissing back. “I knew you would.”

The Johto League Champion simply smirked.

“So,” Lorelei said, glancing around the hotel suite with interest. “What now?”

“Now,” Bruno said, pushing his newly wedded wife onto the bed, “We make sure we’re married.”

Lorelei stuck out her tongue, and Bruno grinned. He bent down and kissed her. She looked like an angel in her wedding dress…

He could hardly wait. This was the best idea he had ever had.

She simply smiled, then, and they made it a night to remember.
