Red glared at the impudent little upstart standing across from him. Gold, was it? Well, he would not lose to such a braggart. He watched as the boy released a Sandslash, before smirking coldly and countering with Blastoise. The comical look before Hydro Pump smashed into the ground type was truly interesting, and even the sight of a Raichu emerging next was little trouble.

Raichu darted forwards, cheeks sparkling, even as Blastoise began to stomp loudly, shaking the very foundations of the cave with his Earthquake attack. A few rocks clattered down from the ceiling, but it was worth it as the electric rat crumpled. Bravely, she stood, pushing herself up again, before batting her eyelashes and exuding a wave of pink hearts in an Attract attack.

Interesting. Blastoise stopped, eyes bulging to a comical size. She immediately took advantage of his immobility to lash out with a Thunder, and he gave a cry of pain as lightning crackled all over his body.

Why? His expression seemed to plead. Why are you attacking me? I like you!

Red pondered for a second, before a slow smile spread across his face. A flick of his wrist, and Blastoise swapped for Espeon. The lilac eevelution blasted the Raichu away with a Psychic attack.

Gold grit his teeth and sent out Houndoom. Red nodded to Espeon, who repeated Raichu’s attract move, causing Houndoom to freeze, before hearts exploded all around him.

            Return?

A second blast of hearts sent the Houndoom into dreamland. Cursing, Gold released Meganium, and Sunny Day spread over the field.

Red’s smile was just slightly too sharp and Gold’s eyes widened as Espeon breathed out Fire Blast. How?

A moment later, he realized what it really was.

            Hidden Power!

“Well?” Red asked pleasantly, as a badly burnt Meganium toppled to the ground. “What now?”

Gold was angry, so angry, that he simply recalled his pokemon and stormed out.

Red watched, stifling a yawn with one hand, before he recalled Espeon.

            Espeon smirked.

It was useful to have a few unorthodox moves on hand…

“They’ve forgotten about Ash.” Red said, as he walked back into the cave. “Ash Ketchum was never very important anyway. But everyone knows Red, the undefeatable Champion on Mount Silver.”

“Perhaps, but do you regret leaving him behind?” Lance asked.

Red chuckled. “Not alt all, my love. It’s better this way.”

Lance raised an eyebrow, before Red leaned over her and kissed her passionately, sliding his tongue into the older Trainer’s mouth.

“Ash was never brave enough to do something like that. He was a stupid little promiscuous brat who deserved to die. He couldn’t even figure out who he was in love with. I have no such qualms.”

“Oh,” She purred, sliding her arms around Red’s waist. “And what else are you brave enough to do, Champion?”

            Red just grinned.
