He’s twenty-four when he finally realizes that his journey is never going to end. No matter how many more badges and regions and new traveling companions await him, it will never be enough. He’s still got his childish cute looks and whenever he walks into a town all the mothers squeal.

He hates it.

Brock finally settled down and married Suzie, and Misty and Lorelei are going out. Somehow, it doesn’t surprise him at all, and he wonders, oh he wonders, why he can’t settle down like them.

Is he doomed to be a wanderer forever?

He hopes not, but even so, as Pikachu chirps and he glances at the next location on the map, he can’t imagine ending it all.

No, Ash Ketchum still has unfinished business with the world, and it may never finish, but that’s the way his life is.

And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
