It’s so easy, how killing becomes, one stroke of his pen, one life wiped out in forty seconds. Light hums idly to himself, something quiet and not very tuneful, as he fills another line with his neat handwriting, another minute, another useless life eliminated from the world. The Death Note has become his obsession, his lifeline, his path to glory, almost an addiction, but Light is too self-controlled to let anything take over his life, even killing criminals for the betterment of society, or so he thinks.

Ryuk, who is munching on an apple and watching, just laughs and smirks.
